Chapter 34
Chapter 34
34~ Behind the Door~
Following the Empress to the small garden behind the bedchamber, the little Princess was somewhat puzzled. Didn't she say she wanted to show her some things? What were they doing here? Could it be that thing was actually hidden?
"Snap~"
Following the Empress's finger snap, the ground began to sink down block by block, ultimately forming a staircase.
She really guessed correctly! This really was hidden!
Somewhat speechless, but thinking about it, it seemed there was no problem. Perhaps it was some important thing that would be hidden underground like this?
"Fei, what is that thing?"
"Don't know."
"Don't know?"
The little Princess looked completely confused. What did "don't know" mean? If even you don't know what that thing is called, how could I possibly know?
Her heart held doubts, but she didn't question the Empress. Bringing her to see it should have her own considerations, right? Perhaps?
Walking down the staircase to a passage, inside the passage she couldn't see her hand in front of her face. The Empress casually summoned several clusters of light particles to orbit around them. At the deepest part of the passage was a giant and heavy iron door. The little Princess looked it over. This massive iron door was a full five of her heights tall.
What caught her attention most was the mechanical structure on the iron door. It looked complex yet simple. Complex in that the mechanical structures were numerous, but the principles weren't difficult, all relatively simple mechanical structures.
What was locked behind such a large iron door? She was very curious.
She saw the Empress raise her hand and summon magic again. The complex mechanical structure on the heavy iron door operated accordingly. Amidst "creaking" and "clicking" sounds, the heavy iron door gradually began to unlock. Finally, after a heavy "thud" sound, the door completely opened.
The Empress summoned more light particles to fill the room behind the iron door, and the little Princess could finally see clearly what the situation inside was.
This is...!
The little Princess's eyes widened. The things placed in the room made her unable to stay calm anymore! Her heart pounded "thump thump" wildly.
"Mo, do you recognize these things?"
The Empress pinched the little Princess's surprised face and asked.
"Don't lie."
......
"Your Highness~"
Xiyan pushed open the bedchamber door. After discovering only the two cats' figures in the bedchamber, she was somewhat disappointed.
Strange, where did Princess Mo go? Speaking of which, Her Majesty the Empress was also gone? Did they go out together?
"Meow meow~"
The two cats discovered the commotion at the door and ran out to see if their human servant had returned. After discovering it was Xiyan whom they had only seen once, they curiously surrounded her and sniffed.
Mm, it's the loli human servant's scent, meow.
So they habitually exposed their bellies begging to be petted.
"Go, go away. Don't interfere with me finding Princess Mo."
"Meow meow meow???"
Under the two cats' confused state, Xiyan tossed them both aside and left the bedchamber.
This human actually doesn't like soft and cute cats, meow! (Shocked)
So where exactly did Princess Mo go? If she didn't find Her Highness soon, the snacks she just made would get cold.
Xiyan anxiously finished searching all the rooms in the Inner Imperial City. After searching for quite a while, she simply couldn't find any trace of Princess Mo or Her Majesty the Empress.
What to do... she couldn't find Princess Mo!
She went to ask Lady Ling, but she also said she didn't know, only that the two went out together, but where they went she didn't know.
That meant her snacks were made for nothing!
Very sad. Clearly they were specially made for Princess Mo to eat. Now she could only finish them herself. Reheating these snacks wouldn't be as good as when they were fresh from the oven. The texture would also be much worse.
In tears, she ate the snacks she made while they were hot. Very delicious, just that Princess Mo didn't get to taste them. It was really too much of a pity... Clearly only if Her Highness ate them would they have value...
No choice. Princess Mo and Her Majesty the Empress went out. She could only eliminate these snacks herself. She only hoped that when Princess Mo returned, after she made new snacks, she wouldn't disappear again.
Disappointed little loli maid going online...
......
"Phew..."
The little Princess patted her chest, doing her best to calm her emotions.
But every time she thought of those things she saw in that massive room, her little heart couldn't stop going "thump thump."
"Mo."
"Ah ah??"
The little Princess hastily responded.
"Mo can't go back on what she promised, okay?"
"Mm... won't go back on it."
Of course she wouldn't lie about what she promised. Ever since coming to the alternate world and becoming a princess, she had developed some princess habits. For example, she usually disdained lying and wouldn't chat excessively with people of unequal status. Of course, her personal Maid Xiao Xi was an exception.
The first thing after returning to the bedchamber was to have Xiyan prepare some tea and sweets to help her calm down...
"Xiyan."
"What are... Your Highness!?"
After recognizing the owner of this voice, Xiyan almost couldn't help but jump up. She quickly wiped the crumbs from the corner of her mouth and ran before the little Princess.
"Your Highness, where did you go? I originally made you snacks. Because they were getting cold and I was afraid they wouldn't taste good cold, I ate them myself..."
The little loli maid became more aggrieved as she spoke, as if blaming the little Princess for not being able to eat the snacks she made in time.
Who would have thought that Princess Mo would actually return just as she finished the last piece of snack? The heavens were truly playing tricks!
"It's fine. Just make more later."
The little Princess extended her hand to rub the little loli maid's head and face, played around for a bit, then made her request for snacks and tea. Xiyan of course happily returned to the kitchen to prepare.
Her Highness not only patted my head today but also pinched my face. Today is really my lucky day.
"Does Fei want to eat?"
The little Princess turned her head to ask the Empress who had just come over.
"Your Majesty!"
"No need. You eat. I don't like eating sweets."
"Alright then."
Clearly sweets were so delicious. Why would someone not like them?
The little Princess suddenly discovered that although she had always stayed by the Empress's side, she had never figured out the Empress's habits. What she knew was merely the tip of the iceberg.
For example, why the Empress absolutely must have her. Originally she thought it was simply because she took a fancy to her talent or appearance or something. Looking at it now, the matter was far from being this simple.
Just based on those things hidden beneath the Imperial City alone, she felt there must definitely be a big story here. If released, that would be a true torrent of steel. With the current technology level, even developing for several hundred years, it would be very difficult to create those things...
Weapons, extremely many weapons. This was what she saw upon first entering that room.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of those weapons were in an unusable state. First, they hadn't undergone maintenance leading to their being scrapped. Just the inability to manufacture bullets alone was enough to make people shrink back.
Under such technological conditions, they simply didn't possess the conditions to manufacture bullets.
However, what made her more concerned was whether this world still had people from her previous life? Being able to make those kinds of things, the only thing she could think of was people who, like herself, were reincarnated.
