After Changing to the Ruthless Way, the Brothers Cried and Begged for Forgiveness

Chapter 437: Feng, Youre So Kind

Chapter 437: Feng, Youre So Kind

The men who had brimmed with murderous intent only moments before now scattered like startled birds. Yet the demonic beast moved with lightning speed.

Blood blossomed in the air, one burst after another. The figures fell lifelessly to the ground, their bodies striking the earth with heavy thuds.

Where the battlefield had been rife with clashes and roars, silence now reigned, oppressive and cold.

Yu Zhao gazed solemnly at the corpses lying in pools of blood. Each of these individuals had powers comparable to her own, yet they had been utterly powerless before the demonic beast. They hadn’t even glimpsed its form before death claimed them.

Had she not exercised extra caution, her fate would have mirrored theirs.

Unsure whether the beast had truly departed, Yu Zhao remained motionless within the shrouding gray mist, time dragging slowly past.

After half an hour, a sudden whistling broke the stillness. Two figures approached from the horizon, their speed incredible. In the blink of an eye, they hovered above the corpses.

Recognizing them, Yu Zhao’s brow arched slightly. She had seen these two aboard the Galaxy Starship earlier. Their presence here raised the possibility that Feng Jiu Si and the others might also be nearby.

“Brother Feng, look! These people are dead, but their storage artifacts are untouched. No wonder everyone says the God-Abandoned Land overflows with treasures. We’ve barely set foot here, and we’ve already struck it rich. Our luck is truly amazing!”

The woman leaned coyly into the man’s arms, her face alight with excitement. The man wrapped his arm around her slender waist and laughed heartily. “Ah, Sister Qiao, haven’t I told you? With me here, you’ll never face harm in the God-Abandoned Land.”

“Brother Feng, you’re so good to me.”

Hidden in the gray mist, Yu Zhao could not hear their words. Yet from their flirtatious gestures, she could guess the nature of their exchange. She shook her head silently.

After a while, the man let go of the woman and descended toward the corpses. With methodical efficiency, he stripped every last item from the bodies before eagerly returning to the woman’s side.

The scene Yu Zhao anticipated—where the beast might return to claim another victim—did not occur. It seemed the beast had departed after consuming the victims’ Nascent Souls.

She was beginning to regret her hesitance when an inhuman wail shattered the stillness ahead. Alarmed, she looked up to see the previously sweet-smiling woman with a glowing fingertip pressed against the man’s forehead.

His face contorted in agony, veins bulging from his temples, his bloodshot eyes filled with terror. Though his body remained immobilized, as though bound by an invisible force, his throat emitted choked, desperate gurgles.

“Silly Brother Feng, I didn’t plan to kill you so soon. But who told you to stumble across such a windfall? I simply can’t let you live.”

The woman smiled faintly, her fingertip erupting in radiant light.

The man’s terrified gaze dulled, his stiff limbs going limp. Though outwardly unchanged, his Sea of Consciousness had been utterly obliterated, leaving behind nothing but a soulless shell.

With cold precision, the woman stripped every artifact from his body and discarded him like trash before striding away.

As she left, Yu Zhao thought she saw her glance briefly in her direction.

A chill ran through Yu Zhao. Not daring to linger, she fled in the opposite direction.

In another fragmented landmass.

Jin Yuan and her companions huddled in a cave, their faces clouded with tension.

“Jin Yuan, how could you be so careless? How could you lose track of someone?” Tu Xiao finally snapped, his frustration boiling over.

He didn’t particularly care about Liu Yun’s disappearance—he’d never liked her. The problem was that she had taken a valuable South Abyssal Sea Pearl Bracelet, an heirloom of the Tu family. Though not their greatest treasure, it was no ordinary artifact.

After spending heavily to secure passage aboard the Galaxy Starship, Tu Xiao’s frustration at losing yet another treasure was palpable.

“How dare you pin this on me? Why didn’t you keep an eye on her yourself? This isn’t solely my responsibility,” Jin Yuan retorted angrily.

Her mood soured further as she recalled Yu Zhao’s silent departure, which had been a clear act of mistrust. Jin Yuan had thought herself well-disguised, yet Yu Zhao had seen through her.

Had Yu Zhao suspected her all along? If so, her cunning was terrifying.

Worse, Yu Zhao’s natural talents rivaled theirs. Letting her escape was akin to setting a tiger free into the wild.

“If it weren’t for your insistence on coming to the God-Abandoned Land, none of this would’ve happened!” Tu Xiao growled.

“You all agreed, so don’t try to shirk responsibility!” Jin Yuan shot back.

“You started it!”

Their argument escalated, voices growing louder and sharper.

Feng Jiu Si’s ears twitched. He gestured for silence but was ignored, their bickering drowning out every other sound. Finally, he snapped, “Shut up!”

The others froze, startled, as he tilted his head, listening intently. A heartbeat later, he darted toward the cave entrance like an arrow loosed from a bow.

“Run!”

The remaining four weren’t fools. Hearing the urgency in his voice, they bolted without hesitation. Moments after they vacated the cave, an invisible sonic wave swept through, shattering the walls.

The cave quaked violently, its stone walls splitting like a spider’s web. Debris rained down, the tremors almost swallowing them whole.

Though they managed to escape, the residual force struck them, leaving their heads pounding and bodies trembling.

Huo Shao Yan, the slowest among them, suffered the brunt of the impact. His face paled before an alarming flush of red overtook it.

Shui Qiu Bai noticed and, fighting through his own dizziness, clamped a hand over Huo Shao Yan’s mouth, forcing him to swallow his blood.

“Cousin, you almost suffocated me!” Huo Shao Yan wheezed weakly.

Shui Qiu Bai glared. “You almost got us all killed!”

“Is that really necessary?” Huo Shao Yan muttered.

“Do you have a death wish, Huo Shao Yan? Don’t drag us down with you!” Jin Yuan snapped.

Having once seen a beast tear a cultivator’s Nascent Soul from their nosebleeding corpse, she never underestimated the dangers here.

Huo Shao Yan slumped to the ground, defeated. “Since Yu Zhao’s gone and this place is deadly, why are we even still here? Let’s just leave.”
