After Changing to the Ruthless Way, the Brothers Cried and Begged for Forgiveness

Chapter 389: White Blaze is Fu Xi!

Chapter 389: White Blaze is Fu Xi!

Master Jie Tan had scheduled their departure with Yu Zhao for the following day. After sending her off, he began arranging matters within the temple.

Meanwhile, Yu Zhao left the Harmony Sound Temple and first went to check on Long Fei Fei. Seeing her lively and full of energy, with no trace of abnormality on her face, Yu Zhao finally relaxed. She reminded Long Fei Fei to rest and recover well at the temple, then headed straight down the mountain toward Chaozong Gorge, a gathering place for demonic beasts.

“Yu Zhao.”

As Yu Zhao stood at the outskirts, scanning her surroundings and debating whether to enlist a demonic beast to help her search for Hua Tu, a voice called out from afar. She turned toward the source, her eyes lighting up. “Bai Mei, you’re here too.”

Bai Mei nodded and walked toward Yu Zhao.

As they closed the distance, Yu Zhao’s brow furrowed slightly. Something seemed off about Bai Mei.

“Who are you looking for? Need my help?”

Despite Bai Mei’s efforts to appear composed, Yu Zhao could see the exhaustion and strain in her eyes.

“I’m here to see Chief Bai Ling.”

The moment Yu Zhao saw Bai Mei, she changed her plan. What was Hua Tu compared to the reliability of Chief Bai Ling?Without asking more questions, Bai Mei led Yu Zhao to Bai Ling.

Chief Bai Ling was with the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan’s chief, Jiu Wei. Both were surprised to see Yu Zhao.

“Are you here because of the dragon roar in Chaozong Gorge?” Bai Ling asked.

“Yes and no.”

Yu Zhao then recounted how she had encountered White Blaze, how he suddenly fell ill, and his subsequent disappearance in Chaozong Gorge. She explained that since she would soon leave with Master Jie Tan for their almsgiving mission, she couldn’t stay to await the outcome. Sharing this information with the two great demonic chiefs, she hoped they might analyze whether White Blaze’s situation was connected to the dragon roar.

Unexpectedly, as Bai Ling and Jiu Wei listened to her description, their eyes widened with astonishment. Their gazes turned fervent, and excitement flushed their faces.

“Are you certain the little snake—no, White Blaze—had a white body and red eyes?” Bai Ling asked anxiously.

Yu Zhao nodded. “No mistake. Also, he dislikes eating ordinary food and prefers spirit stones.”

Bai Ling and Jiu Wei exchanged a glance, their eyes alight with mutual understanding and wild joy.

It’s Fu Xi!

White Blaze is Fu Xi!

They had suspected that Fu Xi might have gone missing or been captured, but they never imagined he had sought out Yu Zhao of his own accord. After all, she hadn’t been present when he hatched, and they’d never connected the two.

“What is this…?” Yu Zhao asked, puzzled. Bai Ling and Jiu Wei seemed more excited than she was.

Piecing together their simultaneous presence in Chaozong Gorge and Bai Mei’s earlier strained demeanor, a sudden realization dawned on Yu Zhao. Like lightning cutting through fog, she blurted out, “White Blaze is Fu Xi, isn’t he?”

Bai Ling nodded emphatically. “Exactly! White Blaze appeared near you on the fourth day after Fu Xi disappeared. There are many similarities between them.”

“And the most conclusive proof is the dragon roar emanating from beneath Chaozong Gorge. Only those with the Azure Dragon’s bloodline can produce a dragon roar imbued with the might of heaven and earth!”

“Yu Zhao, thank you for looking after Fu Xi!” Bai Ling’s gaze at Yu Zhao was a complex mix of excitement, gratitude, admiration, and approval.

Though Jiu Wei remained silent, her expression conveyed full agreement. Initially biased against Yu Zhao, thinking that someone outside their tribe could not be trusted, Jiu Wei now silently regretted her earlier prejudice. Yu Zhao’s actions had shattered those notions. She couldn’t help but wish the one possessing the Azure Dragon’s bloodline were Yu Zhao herself. If that were the case, she would join Bai Ling in offering their unwavering support.

Yu Zhao finally learned that Fu Xi had been missing for several days. Bai Ling and Jiu Wei had turned the demonic territories upside down searching for him, worrying themselves to the point of losing fur. They had come to Chaozong Gorge on the slim hope of finding traces of Fu Xi or at least something connected to the Azure Dragon bloodline.

The news Yu Zhao brought was like a soothing balm to their anxieties. Now they could confirm Fu Xi’s whereabouts and finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Yu Zhao, too, was delighted to discover White Blaze’s true identity through this series of coincidences.

But her joy didn’t last long. A thought struck her, and concern flickered in her eyes. “Will White Blaze be in danger?”

The cheerful expressions on Bai Ling and Jiu Wei’s faces dimmed slightly at her question. Bai Ling responded cautiously, “Based on your description, it’s highly likely that White Blaze is entering his bloodline awakening phase.”

Yu Zhao’s heart sank. In her two lifetimes, she had witnessed two bloodline awakenings among the Quan Ye clan. Both left indelible impressions. Even the tough-skinned Quan Ye had barely survived the agony. How could White Blaze, a newly hatched juvenile, endure such torment?

“Don’t worry too much. Sending him to Chaozong Gorge was absolutely the right decision,” Jiu Wei said, seeing Yu Zhao’s worry. Noticing Yu Zhao’s attention, she continued, “After hearing about the dragon roar, I searched my inherited memories for clues about Chaozong Gorge and found an old legend.

“The legend claims this place was once a mountain, but when an Azure Dragon rolled here, it became the gorge we see today. If the legend is true, traces of the Azure Dragon remain here and will guide Fu Xi through this trial.”

At those words, the last of Yu Zhao’s worries lifted.

“Chief Bai Ling, Chief Jiu Wei, I have urgent matters to attend to and must leave tomorrow. I’ll entrust White Blaze to your care.”

“Go handle your business without concern. With us here, no harm will come to White Blaze,” Jiu Wei assured her, even changing how she addressed Fu Xi, fully embracing the name Yu Zhao had given him.

“Take these and be careful on your journey.” Bai Ling retrieved a handful of spiritual herbs from his storage space and thrust them into Yu Zhao’s hands.

Not knowing how else to express his gratitude, Bai Ling chose the simplest way to repay her.

Yu Zhao glanced down, her heart racing. Among the herbs were several fourth-grade spiritual plants, and she even spotted a fifth-grade spiritual flower. After hesitating for a moment, she accepted them and expressed her thanks.

Bai Ling laughed heartily and, together with Jiu Wei, saw her off.

As Yu Zhao left Chaozong Gorge, Hua Tu was nowhere to be seen. Instead, she noticed a few elegant three-eyed leopards lounging on a boulder in the sun. Not wanting to disturb them, she quietly departed.

When Hua Tu eventually returned, he learned from the other beasts what he had missed. His wagging tail drooped immediately, and his dejected expression seemed as if the sky had fallen.

The more he thought about it, the more aggrieved he felt. He prepared to chase after Yu Zhao, only to be told she had already left. Crushed, he collapsed onto the ground, unwilling to move a muscle.
