After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic

Chapter 751: No One is Born a King

Chapter 751: No One is Born a King

Connor felt moved and wanted to cry, but the King looked skeptical.Ben Hunter had explained enough these days, and he didn’t want to explain anymore. He pulled Connor over, touched his bruised face, and looked at the King with great displeasure: "Why did you torment the child like this? A dignified Prince, injured like this and on the face, is this appropriate?"

"My Prince doesn’t need Old Master Hunter’s concern; this is just a necessary part of his growth."

"But you can’t hit his face!"

Ben Hunter looked at Connor with some distress. This child had never been beaten like this while in the Hunter Family, yet back home, he was now bruised and battered.

"Everything has to go step by step. Teach him slowly if he doesn’t understand anything."

The King was very impatient, but he couldn’t easily offend this old man, so he responded coldly.

He didn’t have the patience to teach slowly, nor did he have the time.

His illness was worsening, and he didn’t know how long he could live. This son was very unpromising, and he simply wasn’t reassured about handing the country over to him.

If only the eldest son were still here!

He must find the woman who killed his son and tear her into pieces!

Ben Hunter talked to Connor without avoiding the King: "You lad, work hard. When I brought you home, I didn’t know you had such a noble identity. This old man likes having successful descendants, so you can’t shame me. Show your most impressive side to let your father see how foolish he was to abandon you back then!"

Connor nodded solemnly, his voice choked: "I will!"

Ben Hunter lovingly patted his head: "Don’t always think about going back. Connor, you need to understand that this is truly your home; the entire country is yours. If you leave, are you going to hand over the whole nation? That’s so foolish!"

He never taught Connor about vying for power, never taught him about scheming and intrigue because he had trained him as Harry Hunter’s assistant.

If this matter were given to Harry Hunter, Ben Hunter believed he wouldn’t need to say anything, and Harry Hunter could quickly assume the role of Prince, taking control of the whole country, even overshadowing the current King.

But Connor couldn’t do it; he hadn’t learned these things and needed time to adapt to his role and digest the terrifying enormous pressure.

No one is born a ruler. Harry Hunter was raised by standards set for a ruler. His ability to handle pressure and manage crises could crush most people in the world.

Connor had been with him for so long, and while he might not have learned the essence, he certainly picked up a lot. Temporarily controlling his emotions and putting on a façade to deceive others wouldn’t be a problem.

It’s just that Connor has never entered the role and always wants to return to A City. His sense of rejection here was too strong.

"Connor, don’t make this old man worry here. Listen to the King, show the aura of a Prince, and don’t cry next time, okay?"

"I understand."

Connor wiped his eyes. He was very uncomfortable and disliked it here. Seeing Ben Hunter felt like seeing a family member, making him want to cry!

He understood Ben Hunter’s good intentions, and he knew everything could never go back.

He always thought all this seemed like a dream, but now the dream had ended, and he was still a Prince. This identity couldn’t be shaken off anymore.

"Don’t worry, I will do well!"

"That’s good!"

Ben Hunter smiled, patted Connor’s hand, and turned to walk out of the magnificent palace.

He had just left when Connor hadn’t yet emerged from his unpleasant emotions. Suddenly, the King next to him spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and slowly fell down.
