After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic

Chapter 705: Any Last Words?

Chapter 705: Any Last Words?

The summer night was unbearably sultry; even when there was wind, it was an uncomfortable hot breeze. In the elegantly refined mansion of the Barnes Family, the air conditioning was on, blowing out bursts of cold air. It was supposed to be a comfortable temperature, yet Peter Barnes deeply regretted setting it too low.

He knelt on the ground, his body trembling, overwhelmed by fear, cold from head to toe.

"Peter Barnes, how dare you sell me out?"

Natalie Niles, in long pants and short boots, stood upright, looking down at Peter Barnes, her voice cold as if filled with ice.

"No, Miss Niles, don’t misunderstand. It wasn’t me who leaked the information, it was Cora Ginger!"

"Smack!"

The crisp sound echoed in the living room, Peter Barnes’s face was slapped to the right, the taste of blood spread in his mouth, his ears ringing.

If Natalie Niles had hit him any harder, Peter Barnes suspected his ear would have been deafened by her!

"Cora Ginger indeed leaked my information, but I’m well aware of her capabilities. She doesn’t even know anyone from KS. The one who sold me out was you, Peter Barnes."

Natalie Niles suddenly kicked him in the chest, "Must be disappointing for you that I’m not dead?"

Peter Barnes didn’t dare to resist and took the kick, gasping, almost passing out from the pain.

Being maintained well still didn’t change the fact that he was over forty, not in his twenties anymore, when he could quickly recover from a beating or a kick.

The entire mansion was dead silent; quietly, no one came to check what was happening in the living room.

Peter Barnes felt as if all hope was lost.

As expected, his bodyguards were useless, all taken down by Natalie Niles!

The household servants were also silent, impossibly asleep so deeply.

Including his mother and Cora Ginger, everyone was knocked out in their sleep; she must have used drugs!

Natalie Niles had planned everything, leaving only him awake.

Peter Barnes abandoned all dignity as a man and crawled over on his knees to hug Natalie Niles’s leg, "I was wrong! Miss Niles, be magnanimous, spare me this time, I won’t dare again! I was forced, those people somehow found out I had connections with you, threatened me to reveal your whereabouts, or else my mother would be dead!"

Natalie Niles didn’t believe a word of it. Her mind was as deep as the sea, and Peter Barnes’ petty tricks were nothing to her!

Yet as Peter Barnes held her calf, she suddenly recalled the scene from last night when Connor was applying ointment to her calf.

Her calf had several blood marks scratched by Cora Ginger, and Connor had smoothed out each one, affectionately cradling her calf, asking who had hurt her.

She didn’t answer, but she knew Connor must have already guessed it was Cora Ginger.

He even muttered, "Bastard," under his breath.

Really, it was all Peter Barnes’s fault for trying to harm her; otherwise, she wouldn’t have had to make this trip, and she could be nestled in her man’s embrace, enjoying his love and caresses now.

Natalie Niles kicked Peter Barnes away, picked up a redwood stool, and smashed it onto Peter Barnes with a "crash."

Peter Barnes screamed miserably, writhing in pain on the cold marble tiles.

Once he had rolled enough, Natalie Niles finally spoke, "Do you think that just having KS people kill me would magically erase all your past crimes without anyone knowing?"

Peter Barnes was terrified, "What do you want to do?"

"I have all the evidence in my hands, Peter Barnes, you’re not far from death. Got any last words?"

"Don’t expose me! I’ll do whatever you ask!"
