Chapter 636: Kind of Miss You
Chapter 636: Kind of Miss You
Connor returned home, and as soon as he walked in, he went to the bedroom to see Natalie Niles, but the bed was empty! He was startled, a bit flustered in an instant: "Natalie!"
"Over here."
A cool, clear voice came from the balcony. Connor hurried over, relieved: "Why are you here?"
She was hidden by the curtain between the balcony and the bedroom, so Connor hadn’t seen her earlier.
"I wanted to get some sun."
"Your internal injuries have just started to get better, you shouldn’t be moving around."
Connor looked at her pale face, her entire weak demeanor, and couldn’t help but ask, "How did you get over here?"
Natalie’s tone was light: "I crawled over."
She reached out a hand, feeling the blazing heat of the sun, her eyes unfocused, but a faint smile appeared on her lips: "Being alive feels pretty good."
Connor’s heart was suddenly gripped by pain.
He took a blanket, spread it on the balcony, lifted Natalie onto it, sat next to her, and nestled her against his shoulder, unscrewing a bottle of Sprite: "I brought you some sour plum soup, I remember you used to like it."
"Thank you."
It was something she used to like to drink, now she wasn’t picky at all and didn’t have any particular favorites anymore.
The balcony was warm and toasty from the sun, the intense sunlight eased her body’s coldness and pain. Leaning against Connor and sipping the sour plum soup he had specially brought back, Natalie felt life was so pleasant for the first time.
She reached out and touched Connor’s neck, feeling the couple’s necklace he was wearing, and smiled.
It turned out he really liked her, as he always wore the necklace.
Connor knew what she was touching, she also wore the necklace he had given her around her neck.
He couldn’t help but pull her onto his lap, carefully holding her: "Is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?"
"No."
"Your chest and abdomen, and head don’t hurt?"
"No pain."
"But Johan said your injuries were serious and would hurt a lot."
"He underestimated me."
"Does it hurt or not? Tell the truth, no lying!"
"Alright, actually, it does hurt a bit, but I just drank the sour plum soup, I feel much better, let me have a little more."
"That’s too cold, you can only drink a little. But I have other ways to ease your pain."
As he spoke, Connor bent down and kissed her lips.
She had just drunk the sour plum soup, leaving a sweet and tangy taste in her mouth, which made Connor want to indulge.
Mm, not bad, he had a wife, he didn’t have to always envy others’ love anymore.
His wife was beautiful and could fight, smart enough to outdo others, yet now she was so well-behaved in his arms, his heart melted into a puddle.
Connor was very warm, whether from kissing her or from the sun, he didn’t know.
But he finally had time to settle things with his woman, casting the heat aside, he whispered: "You slept with me and then ran away, where’s your conscience?"
Natalie smiled lightly: "I don’t have one."
"With no conscience, you still came back? I thought you ran off and wouldn’t return."
"Because it’s safest here with you, you’ll protect me, I can safely recover here with you."
"Using me again?"
"A little."
"Not because you missed me?"
"No."
Connor got annoyed, his voice turned cold, firm and icy as he said: "Natalie Niles, say that again! Believe it or not, I’ll throw you off the balcony!"
Natalie heard that he really was angry, though she was sure Connor wouldn’t throw her off the balcony, she whispered: "Alright, a little."
"A little what? Say it all!"
"I missed you a little."
