Chapter 406: Mr. Hunter’s Grilled Fish
Chapter 406: Mr. Hunter’s Grilled Fish
In the kitchen, two new housekeepers were busily at work.Isabella Weaver glanced over and asked Harry Hunter in a low voice, "Where are Aunt Hart and Aunt Spring?"
"They’ve been replaced."
Harry was brief, but Isabella figured it out: "Was it them who drugged me and Grace last night?"
"Yes."
"Both of them..."
"Just one, but to be safe, I let them both go."
Isabella remained silent for a long time, unable to believe that the two elders who treated her with such care could have possibly drugged her!
Had she not treated them well enough?
Harry was always giving them big red envelopes.
"Don’t be upset. You can never fully predict people’s hearts. Some will betray for huge profits."
Harry gently patted her back, his tone soft, "This must have been a line that Austin Winters laid down deeply for a long time. He’s never used it, so it must have been intended for a crucial moment. Who knew Ella Weaver would use it so easily."
When Austin finds out about this, he’ll probably be furious!
The servants had already cooked congee and made over a dozen dishes, placing them one by one on the dining table, and then politely left.
Harry pulled Isabella to sit at the dining table: "Try them and see if they suit your taste. If not, I’ll find someone else."
Isabella wasn’t very picky about food. She drank some congee and tugged at Harry’s sleeve, asking, "Didn’t you promise me grilled fish? When can I have it?"
Harry caught her hand, chuckling, "I haven’t forgotten. Once you’re feeling better, I’ll take you fishing. You have a fever now, so you can’t go out today."
Isabella’s spirits lifted again—Good! He hadn’t forgotten!
In the evening.
Isabella woke from a nap, covered in a layer of sweat. After showering, she came out of the bathroom and suddenly smelled an enticing aroma of fish. Looking out the window, she saw Harry grilling fish!
She ran downstairs, thrilled, "Can I have grilled fish today?"
Harry, in a white shirt, stood tall and handsome. He turned his head with a smile at Isabella: "Fishing is a no-go, but grilling fish is fine. In a moment, you can try my skills!"
Isabella’s eyes sparkled like stars, "You can grill fish too? Is there anything you can’t do?"
Harry basked in her praise, grilling fish with one hand while wrapping an arm around her waist, kissing her forehead: "Good, your fever’s down."
Held in his embrace, Isabella glanced at the fish, then at him, unable to hold back: "Mr. Hunter, your grilled fish isn’t as good-looking as your face!"
"Nothing in this world is better looking than my face! How can grilled fish compare to that?"
"No, I mean, you grilled the fish too charred!"
"Mhm, I know I’m handsome."
Isabella laughed uncontrollably, "The fish is burnt, handsome!"
A trace of frustration finally appeared on Harry’s handsome face, "But it’s still raw inside, what’s going on..."
He picked up the fish and tossed it into a nearby trash can, starting to grill another.
Isabella looked down and saw he’d already thrown out seven or eight charred fish!
She laughed until she bent over, "Harry! Turns out you can’t grill fish!"
Just moments ago, he was boldly claiming to let her taste his skills!
She thought he was a grilling expert!
Eating this might as well poison her!
Harry had quite the thick skin, remaining unfazed, calmly saying, "What does it matter, as long as I’m handsome!"
