After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic

Chapter 397: A Sincere Heart

Chapter 397: A Sincere Heart

The night was deep, a little past one in the morning. Connor had his wound treated and insisted on following Harry Hunter as if nothing had happened.Johan Niles hurriedly stopped him: "You need to stay in the hospital for an IV!"

"No need. It’s just a minor wound. Some medication will do."

"What minor wound! This is a gunshot wound! If not treated properly, your whole arm could be wasted!"

Harry Hunter also spoke up: "Stay in the hospital for the night first, and leave after the IV. I’ll have David accompany me."

As soon as he spoke, Connor agreed cheerfully: "Okay, Young Master!"

"Johan, call Cora Ginger and have her come to take care of this."

Johan Niles was not pleased: "Boss, I’m also Connor’s brother and a professional doctor. I can take care of him myself! Why do we need Cora Ginger!"

Harry Hunter cast a cold glance over.

Johan Niles shivered in fright: "Alright, alright, I’ll call her."

Cora Ginger got the call and came quickly.

Seeing that she had arrived, Harry Hunter left in large strides, dragging along Johan Niles, who wanted to stay as an extra.

Cora Ginger sat by Connor’s bed, gently touching his bandaged arm: "Does it hurt?"

"It doesn’t hurt."

Connor’s face beamed with a smile, bright as a child.

"I reacted very quickly today, making sure the Young Master didn’t get hurt!"

Cora Ginger understood; Connor was hurt on behalf of Harry Hunter.

Suddenly, she shed tears, feeling immense heartache.

Connor wiped her tears with his other hand: "Why are you crying? It really doesn’t hurt!"

To him, it really was just a minor wound.

Cora Ginger shook her head, trying to suppress the bitterness in her heart, and held Connor’s hand, saying: "You did well, very impressive!"

In such a materialistic era, his sincere heart was so precious!

No wonder Harry Hunter always kept him by his side, never guarded against him, trusting him wholeheartedly.

Because he was worth it.

Connor was taken aback at Cora Ginger’s praise; he had originally thought she might complain that protecting Harry Hunter was too dangerous!

Cora Ginger wiped her tears and looked up, smiling at him: "Do you want some fruit?"

Connor nodded, and Cora Ginger peeled open a tangerine, feeding him segment by segment.

He tasted the tangerine juice on the corners of his mouth, and Cora Ginger carefully wiped it with a tissue.

Seeing him not very comfortable leaning against the head of the bed, she adjusted the bed’s height and stuffed a pillow behind his back for support.

Finally, she gently kissed his forehead.

Connor had never enjoyed such treatment. As a child, he was a beggar, wandering around and scavenging for food. When he got a bit older, he was taken to fight, battling fiercely. Things only got better when he came to Harry Hunter’s side, yet no one had ever served him like this.

He pulled Cora Ginger’s hand over and kissed each finger: "My girlfriend is not only beautiful but also virtuous!"

Cora Ginger blushed but didn’t pull her fingers away.

She had always thought she looked pretty good, but unfortunately had bad luck, always meeting those more beautiful, always being called ugly.

When she was at the club, she was the least noticeable one.

And last time, when she pretended she wanted to kiss Alexander Parker, not only did he scorn her for being ugly, but he also said he was nauseated by her "ugliness"!

It hurt her deeply!

Only Connor liked to praise her for being pretty!

Cora Ginger reciprocated the compliment: "My boyfriend is very handsome too! And has an incredible amount of boyfriend strength!"

He’s quite strong; he can easily hold her with one hand.
