Chapter 472 - 459: Ruined at the Last Moment
Chapter 472 - 459: Ruined at the Last Moment
Su Mu wore a smug smile on her face as she held her phone, ready to leave. Just as she stepped out of the room and turned around, she found Qin Yun, who had already entered the room earlier, suddenly appearing behind her, staring coldly at her.
Su Mu’s heart skipped a beat under the gaze, "Why are you hiding behind me?"
Subconsciously, she put her phone away, guilty like a thief trying to hide stolen goods.
Qin Yun glanced at her pocket with downcast eyes and spoke coldly, "What are you hiding?"
Su Mu, feeling a bit guilty, straightened her neck and loudly said, "What does it have to do with you? Do I need to report to you when I stay in a hotel? Does your family live by the sea, trying to control everything?"
She took a step back, intending to exit from the elevator behind her.
Qin Yun’s icy voice sounded from behind her, "Paying people to deliberately get close to me, taking some suggestive photo to publish, and then manipulating public opinion?"
Qin Yun spoke in a calm tone, her arms crossed, watching Su Mu trying to leave with a leisurely smile, "Su Mu, your tactics are becoming outdated."
Su Mu, hit by her words, turned around sharply, her face darkened, "What nonsense are you talking about!"
"Do you have evidence?"
Qin Yun raised an eyebrow, nodding towards the hand Su Mu held behind her back, "Evidence? Isn’t the evidence on your phone right now?"
With that, she made a move to grab Su Mu’s phone.
Su Mu immediately let out a scream and dashed towards the elevator, continuously saying, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about, my car is still waiting downstairs, I’m leaving now."
She fervently pressed the elevator button, watching anxiously as the elevator ascended floor by floor, with Qin Yun right behind her. She broke out in a cold sweat, but luckily, the elevator opened with a ding, and she breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped forward.
But as soon as one foot stepped in, her entire body froze in place.
Because standing inside the elevator was Pei Yan.
Her eyes flashed with surprise, and then evident panic set in.
She awkwardly greeted, "Mr. Pei."
At this moment, Qin Yun also walked over. Seeing Pei Yan inside the elevator, she smiled, "Mr. Pei, where have you been? I’ve been looking for you."
Qin Yun asked naturally, her demeanor like that of a wife checking in on her husband.
Su Mu’s face changed drastically upon hearing that and wanted to curse at Qin Yun for being shameless, but feared that provoking Qin Yun would make it impossible for her to leave.
Pei Yan didn’t move, standing in the elevator doorway without even sparing a glance at Su Mu, he explained to Qin Yun, "I went down to grab something, what’s going on?"
Qin Yun calmly explained, "Oh, Su Mu hired a server to provide me some room service and take some photos that shouldn’t be taken."
Upon hearing about photos that shouldn’t be taken, Pei Yan instantly understood Qin Yun’s implication, and he stared down at Su Mu, his gaze terrifying.
Before Pei Yan could even speak, Su Mu hastily covered her pocket, saying, "Mr. Pei, don’t listen to her nonsense, don’t let her deceive you!!"
There was no change in Pei Yan’s expression, "I know exactly what kind of person Qin Yun is; it’s not your place to judge. If you want to harm her even a bit, you’re crossing me. Do you want to hand it over yourself, or shall I help you?"
Su Mu’s face turned pale in an instant, "Pei Yan, you!"
She only had this one bargaining chip on her phone, and once handed over, Qin Yun would certainly target her, and she’d never find such a good opportunity again.
Would all her efforts be in vain?
"There’s no video on my phone," Su Mu shook her head, trying to back away.
But with Qin Yun behind her and Pei Yan in front, there was no escape.
And Pei Yan’s gaze was like a sharp dagger, making her unable to lift her head.
Eventually, unable to withstand the pressure, Su Mu took out her phone and said, "I’ll just delete the photos, okay? It’s her fault for clinging to you!"
Pei Yan directly took her phone, opened the gallery, and saw many photos taken from just the right angles, extremely suggestive.
Pei Yan narrowed his eyes, swiftly deleting the photos, "Is this what you call not taking any?"
Su Mu frantically shook her head in denial, "No, I..."
Pei Yan’s face instantly darkened, "Liars upon liars."
He flipped through the phone further, making sure she hadn’t made backups, then tossed the phone back to her, took out his phone, and called the police, followed by dialing another number.
The entire sequence was seamless and swift, leaving Su Mu with no time to react.
On the other side, someone quickly picked up the call.
"What’s up, Pei Yan? It’s not even time for you to join the crew yet; what’s with the free time to call me? That’s not like you at all."
The voice on the other end was familiar, and Su Mu had a feeling she’d heard it somewhere before.
Pei Yan spoke calmly, "I have something to ask you."
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the other end, like someone sitting up, their voice becoming clearer.
The person responded, "This is rare, what’s up? What could have prompted you to call?"
Pei Yan asked, "Is Su Mu one of the guests for your upcoming show?"
There was a pause, as if the person was recalling, and then they replied, "Yes, President Yan pushed hard for her to be on my program."
"Replace her."
The person sounded surprised, raising their voice, "Hey, what happened, did she offend you?"
"Not me."
Pei Yan’s voice was so cold that the person on the other end sensed his displeasure and agreed while also curiously asking, "Then how did she provoke you? I’ve never seen you so angry."
"She messed with someone she shouldn’t have. Anyway, there’s still time, find a replacement quickly; I’ll treat you to dinner someday."
"No big deal, really, no need to stand on ceremony. I’ll handle it, don’t you worry."
"Thanks."
Pei Yan finished the call and hung up, Su Mu’s face was already deathly pale. She never expected Pei Yan to so easily ruin her chance to participate in the culinary show right before her eyes, and with such nonchalance.
"Pei Yan, you can’t do this to me..."
Pei Yan glanced at her, saying offhandedly, "Can’t do what? President Yan gave you a push, you did indeed have the opportunity to climb higher, too bad your intentions weren’t right."
Hearing this, Su Mu felt all her strength leaving her, collapsing to the ground.
President Yan had said, if she kept screwing up, she’d have to terminate her contract with the platform, and then she couldn’t earn money like she does now.
Did she just ruin her career with her own hands?
No, she still had President Su, and she’d heard that President Su and Director Su were cousins, surely there was a way.
Su Mu trembled as she took out her phone, intending to call President Su, but just then hotel security arrived.
Pei Yan watched them approach, held Qin Yun’s hand and walked out of the elevator, leaving Su Mu to sit pathetically on the ground, unable to get up.
Pei Yan told the guards, "There’s a lunatic in the elevator, keep an eye on her, I’ve already called the police."
