Addicted to My Cutie and Sweetie

Chapter 861: Pushing the Limits

Chapter 861: Pushing the Limits

"If it’s convenient for Miss Zhang, you might want to spend more time with President Lu. Perhaps because of you, he may find joy in life again," the doctor finally remarked.

"Phew—"

Zhang Lingying snapped out of her tangled thoughts and let out a soft sigh.

Her heartbeat seemed to grow chaotic as well.

She remembered Lu Jing tugging at her sleeve, looking at her with pleading eyes.

She recalled him clutching her fingers, asking if she could stay.

And that unexpected embrace, where he tried so hard to please her...

Zhang Lingying had mixed feelings about Lu Jing.

Initially, she thought he was a rogue. After all, staying at someone else’s home for a month without the owner’s permission surely required a thick skin.

But during the time they lived together, Lu Jing acted like a gentleman. He never barged into her room without permission, nor did he ever try to force her into anything she didn’t want to do.

Every time she urged him to leave, he would assertively say, "I’m not forcing you to come with me. I only want a chance to discuss joining the Re Group."

In the end, he didn’t make any demands; rather, it was she who sneaked into his room at midnight, accidentally kissed him, and then awkwardly ran off...

Looking back, it seemed she had been biased against Lu Jing from the start.

The next day, Zhang Lingying’s cold hadn’t improved. Distracted by thoughts of Lu Jing, she had a restless night and was on the verge of feeling even worse.

She took a leave of absence from the lab but made a trip to the supermarket to buy some ingredients and cooked a pot of nutritious porridge at home.

After eating, she packed the remaining porridge and called Lu Jing’s assistant.

When Zhang Lingying arrived at the hospital, Lu Jing was already awake.

Sitting obediently on the bed, he had set up a small tray and was waiting to eat.

Seeing her enter, Lu Jing’s eyes immediately lit up.

"The doctor said your stomach isn’t well and needs some care, so I only made porridge," Zhang Lingying said, bringing the lunchbox forward and placing it in front of him.

Lu Jing didn’t speak, but he eagerly moved the lunchbox in front of himself. As he opened the lid, the fragrant, sticky porridge appeared, and he smiled like a child receiving a treat, bowing his head to drink the porridge earnestly.

Zhang Lingying was still wearing a mask today and didn’t take it off even in the room.

Afraid of spreading germs to Lu Jing, Lu Jing seemed a bit displeased, sipping the porridge while quietly muttering, "Can you take off the mask? I can’t see you clearly."

"No," she replied, worried about infecting him.

"Oh," Lu Jing responded, looking a bit aggrieved, clearly displeased but saying nothing more.

He lowered his head and continued drinking the porridge.

Just as he finished, the doctor came in for rounds, and Zhang Lingying, in Lu Jing’s presence, asked the doctor about his health and when he might be discharged.

"Discharged?" The doctor was momentarily taken aback. Clearly, the conversation with Zhang Lingying yesterday didn’t include the possibility of discharge.

Zhang Lingying’s sudden inquiry surprised the doctor.

Once he regained composure, he earnestly replied, "President Lu’s health has been poor lately. Besides his stomach issues, there are other conditions that require constant attention. Of course, recovery takes time, and being in the hospital isn’t as comfortable as home. If President Lu’s condition improves in the next few days, going home to recuperate might be a good option."

"I don’t want to be discharged. There’s no one to take care of me at home," Lu Jing suddenly interjected.

His gaze at Zhang Lingying was complex.

He paused, then added, "Unless I can move to your place."
