Chapter 693: Twenty plus years, all in vain

Back in the apartment, Ji Weitian first took the two children to wash up and go to sleep.

Qin Nanyu stood alone in the living room, watching her busily taking care of everything and wanting to help, but he was pushed away in disdain.

He could only lean against the doorframe, watching as she took care of the two little ones.

He tried to find an opportunity to talk to her several times, but she blocked him each time.

Finally, after receiving a call from his assistant, he turned and went to the guest room.

Just as his figure disappeared by the doorway, Ji Weitian, who was changing her daughter’s pajamas, hesitated for a moment and looked up toward his retreating back.

The light in her eyes dimmed.

"Mummy, are you angry with Daddy? Are you mad he had a meal with another pretty auntie?" Little Glutinous Rice Dumpling, small as she was, seemed to see through everything and asked, propping up her little cheek.

Ji Weitian was taken aback by the question, and then she gently shook her head, "That’s not true; don’t talk nonsense. He can have meals with whomever he wants; what does it have to do with me?"

"But you are clearly angry. You just fought with Daddy, and both my brother and I saw it. Brother said you’re jealous," Little Glutinous Rice Dumpling immediately betrayed her own brother without any hesitation.

Now, hearing these two words, Ji Weitian felt somewhat exasperated.

Hearing what Little Glutinous Rice Dumpling said, she hurriedly finished dressing her and told the siblings to go to bed early before leaving the room.

When she returned to the bedroom, she found it empty.

Even the two babies could see she was being unreasonable, and she herself didn’t feel it at all.

The call connected, but what came through was deafening music.

"Wait for me a minute; I’ll go outside to take your call," Kali yelled over the phone, and Ji Weitian finally heard her.

She vaguely heard someone holding her back, not letting her go, wanting her to keep drinking.

Who was she with?

It was so late, and she was still out drinking.

Ji Weitian’s sentimental concerns instantly turned into worry for Kali.

When things finally quieted down on her end, Ji Weitian immediately asked, "Where are you? I thought I heard someone forcing you to drink just now?"

"It’s nothing. I’m just drinking with a few old clients, and a new client, brought by a friend, is really into it, pushing drinks all the time. I haven’t drunk much, I’ve been rejecting what I can. Oh, why are you calling me so late all of a sudden?" Kali explained briefly and then asked in return.

Ji Weitian was momentarily at a loss.

She knew Kali was famously dubbed the ’business Queen’ and was notoriously hardworking.

It was so late, yet she was still dealing with clients, while she, Ji Weitian, was looking for someone to console and counsel her over a trivial matter.

Ji Weitian suddenly found herself unable to speak.

On a whim, she asked, "You’re out so late, does He Feichen know?"
