Chapter 670: The One Before Me is the Beloved
Chapter 670: The One Before Me is the Beloved
Ji Weitian felt a chill down her spine!
She took the initiative to walk past him, heading to the front of the guesthouse, pointing at Zhang Lingying in the courtyard as she analyzed, "Don’t you find this girl a bit odd? She seems young, but her demeanor is very mature. Moreover, when she came back yesterday and saw two strangers in her yard, there was not a hint of worry or fear in her eyes. She just coldly asked who we were. Isn’t that strange?"
"..." Qin Nanyu’s gaze did not leave her.
Her voice was in his ears, and also echoing in his mind.
But they were two completely different styles of voices.
The Ji Weitian in front of him was calm and collected, capable of analyzing the complex situation clearly.
Yet, the her in his mind was very honest, admitting when she was tired, utterly worn out by his teasing, and especially obedient, repeating whatever he said... like a cat begging for affection.
"I always feel that she’s quite unusual. Her composed appearance is definitely not because she realized we meant no harm. Rather, it seems she’s used to dealing with all sorts of people showing up at her home!"
After Ji Weitian finished speaking, she waited for a response from Qin Nanyu but, out of curiosity, looked up at him when it didn’t come.
She discovered that he too was looking at her, but his gaze was somewhat hazy, as if he were looking through her at someone else.
He couldn’t be treating her as someone else’s substitute, could he?
Ji Weitian furrowed her brows and waved her hand in front of him, "Qin Nanyu, what are you looking at?"
"Looking at you," he replied without hesitation.
His gaze flickered, the somewhat distant look turning profound.
Soon after, she heard him murmur in a soft voice, "I’m right in front of you, and you’ve been looking for so long. Haven’t you had enough?"
"Never enough," Qin Nanyu’s mouth curved with a teasing arc, meeting her astonished eyes. His lips parted slightly, articulating each word decisively.
"The you standing before me is utterly different from the you lying in my arms, compelling one’s gaze not to stray."
"..."
Ji Weitian was stunned for a good ten seconds before she belatedly grasped what he was hinting at. She also instantly understood that his earlier gaze was actually him recalling the events of last night, and she stood there, dumbfounded.
The topic she’d manage to steer away from was easily brought back to the night she didn’t want to confront by him.
Ji Weitian wanted to pretend like nothing had happened, but her face involuntarily blushed.
She hung her head like a child who had done wrong, fingers nervously picking at the palm of her hand, eyes flickering.
"I’m discussing serious matters with you. Be serious. If we really get kicked out, we will have to spend the night outdoors."
Qin Nanyu straightened up, looking up toward the balcony on the second floor of the guesthouse.
Zhang Lingying stood on the balcony, holding a cup of tea, surveying them openly, as if monitoring whether they would actually leave.
When she met Qin Nanyu’s gaze, she did not look away.
Nor did Qin Nanyu feel any guilt; he let her gaze linger on him, his towering presence like that of a deity even in the desolation, impossible to ignore.
Such a strong aura caused Zhang Lingying to furrow her brow.
She was the first to turn away, ending the eye contact with Qin Nanyu and stepping back from the balcony.
"This Zhang Lingying is definitely not unfamiliar with Professor Zhang as she claims," Qin Nanyu watched the figure disappearing from the balcony, speaking with conviction.
