Chapter 661: A Word Becomes a Proverb!

Chapter 661: A Word Becomes a Proverb!

He handed the cell phone back to Ji Weitian, asking her to continue zooming in on the map on the screen.

Then, pointing to two locations on it, he asked her, "Do you notice anything?"

"These two addresses’ coordinates seem to be one in the south and the other in the north. But looking at the map, they are coincidentally symmetrical shapes. And interestingly, the buildings at both the southern and northern locations are guesthouses."

Ji Weitian looked up in surprise.

Qin Nanyu nodded slightly, "Professor Zhang has OCD and likes to design many things in life with little experimental tricks. He says it adds a bit of suspense and thereby increases the enjoyment of life."

If the addresses he found were indeed deliberately left by Lu Jing, he should thank Lu Jing.

Without the fake ones, he wouldn’t have discovered the real ones.

"It looks like it’s going to rain. It’s inconvenient to drive in the rain; we need to hurry to get there." Ji Weitian put away her phone and turned her head anxiously to glance at the ominous clouds gathering outside the window.

Her prediction was spot on.

Less than half an hour after they hit the road again, the sky had completely darkened.

A thunderclap roared through the sky, followed by the sound of raindrops beginning to fall.

The number of cars on the road gradually decreased as they left the urban area.

By the time darkness fell completely, theirs was the only car visible on the road.

The roads in rural areas were not like those in urban areas.

By the time they neared their destination, many of the roads were no longer asphalt or concrete, but muddy paths.

With the rain, the muddy roads had puddles every few meters. Besides the jolting, a wheel could easily get caught in a deeper hole and slip, making it difficult to get out.

"Buckle up and hold on tight." Qin Nanyu gripped the steering wheel firmly, giving Ji Weitian a worried instruction.

She got slightly carsick. Normally, she was fine in a car, but under these terrible conditions, it wasn’t long before she turned a shade paler.

Qin Nanyu wanted to stop and let her rest, but Ji Weitian refused.

"I’m okay. It’s getting late, and there’s no one around. If something happens here, calling for help would be useless."

Ji Weitian hit the nail on the head.

Their car didn’t even make it through the muddiest stretch of road before getting stuck in a deep pit and unable to move.

Qin Nanyu restarted the car and tried several times, to no avail.

Who knew where Song Shu had found such a beat-up little car that truly lived up to its name.

"You drive, I’ll push. As soon as you hear my signal, step on the gas hard," Qin Nanyu turned to instruct Ji Weitian.

Just as he was about to open the door, Ji Weitian grabbed his arm, "With the rain so heavy outside, you’ll definitely get soaked if you go out."

Qin Nanyu looked down at the hand holding him, a fleeting glint in his eyes, "If we don’t push the car, we might have to spend the night in it. Don’t worry, I have a change of clothes in the car for later."

With those words, he pushed the door open and, facing the downpour, moved to the back of the car.

The rain was pouring outside.

The moment Qin Nanyu stepped out of the car, he was almost completely drenched.

Ji Weitian didn’t want him to be in the rain too long and had to coordinate quickly to get the car out of the mud.

She unbuckled her seatbelt almost immediately and took the driver’s seat.

The sound of rain outside was too loud for her to hear Qin Nanyu’s voice, so she had to rely on the rearview mirror to see his hand signals.
