"Why didn’t you wake me up? I called you, but no one answered," Qin Nanyu said with a faint voice after observing her silence.
Their current intimate posture, coupled with his tone of voice, would make anyone walking in think they were a couple.
Even Ji Weitian herself was somewhat confused; her relationship with Qin Nanyu had started to feel oddly different recently.
She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was odd, but it was certainly strange.
Hearing his words, she instinctively reached for her phone and indeed found there were missed calls.
"Maybe it was because I went to the restroom earlier and didn’t take my phone with me."
She explained briefly and moved out of Qin Nanyu’s embrace.
Qin Nanyu didn’t stop her and only when she sat down across from him did he ask again why she hadn’t woken him up earlier.
"You were sleeping so soundly, and I saw you had dark circles under your eyes, so..." Ji Weitian felt a slight stir in her heart and found herself at a loss for words.
"So, you felt pity for me and didn’t want to wake me up?" Qin Nanyu finished her sentence.
"..."
Although he was spot on, somehow, Ji Weitian detected a teasing tone in his voice.
She didn’t really want to continue down that path, to avoid giving him the satisfaction.
The scene of him coming out of the resting room earlier kept replaying in her mind; for some reason, it felt like he had two souls in one body.
One moment dominant and aggressive, the next moment alluring and unruly.
With his temper being so unpredictable, Ji Weitian found herself overthinking.
She was worried if he might have some sort of mental disorder.
"Qin Nanyu, do you ever feel that..."
"What?" Qin Nanyu saw her hesitant to speak and looked up at her.
Ji Weitian choked up.
She couldn’t very well ask directly if he thought he was mentally ill.
But then she thought, he hadn’t clung to her like this before; it started only after he was driven out of the Qin Family.
That meant he was probably just feeling down lately, causing him to soften up.
"By the way, I just got a call from the TV crew, we are scheduled to record tomorrow," Ji Weitian reminded.
Upon hearing this, Qin Nanyu slightly raised his eyebrows, as if he had also forgotten about it.
He usually had assistants to remind him of his schedule, so he didn’t need to remember it himself.
He had been staying at Ji Weitian’s house these past few days without his assistant by his side.
Thankfully, it wasn’t anything major.
"We’ll just record; it’s not the first time. Why the nerves?" Qin Nanyu caught the anxiety in her eyes and asked.
Ji Weitian clenched her hands and lowered her voice to remind him, "But you’re staying at my place now. If the crew comes around, what will you tell them?"
Staying with her daughter at Qin Family Villa was different.
Qin Family Villa was large with many rooms.
Even if they were filming a show, it wouldn’t affect anything, as they could film in different parts.
But Nanpo Apartment was different.
Though it had three rooms, each room was quite small.
Not to mention, her adoptive parents had moved out to give Qin Nanyu a room, which was somewhat abnormal.
The CEO of Qin Technology Group, homeless, squatting in her tiny apartment.
If word got out, it could lead to endless speculation.
"What if people find out you were cast out by your grandfather? Would that affect you?"
Qin Nanyu didn’t expect her to care so much and immediately lowered his gaze.
"The stock price of Qin Technology Group would probably be affected first. My grandfather would certainly be furious, and there’s a chance he’d come and beat me up, unless..."
He paused, looking at Ji Weitian!
