Chapter 606: Being Human is So Hard!
But in the end, he did nothing at all.
Perhaps, it was because of her inadvertent act just now, snuggling into his arms instinctively.
Or perhaps, it was because he had already hurt her five years ago, in an uncontrollable situation.
He couldn’t bring himself to do the same thing again, and he was afraid he would push her even further away.
Qin Nanyu’s tall silhouette stood beside the bed for a long while.
Then he gently crawled into her bed, wrapping the sleeping person into his arms.
He just held her, doing nothing else.
Just holding her, he couldn’t fall asleep and couldn’t help but give her a kiss.
Having done everything he could except for going all the way, Ji Weitian, tickled by his movements, shifted in his arms, as if about to wake up.
But she didn’t wake up.
She snuggled into his embrace several times like a clingy kitten.
Qin Nanyu’s heart melted into a mess, wishing he could give her his entire heart.
He couldn’t sleep at all now.
He struggled between being a human and a devil.
He struggled until dawn, unable to come to any conclusion, only to sigh at her beautiful sleeping face...
Ji Weitian actually had a bit of trouble sleeping in unfamiliar places and would easily suffer from insomnia when traveling on business.
She never expected that she would fall asleep on the sofa in Qin Nanyu’s office and end up sleeping together with him in the rest room.
When she woke up, she rubbed her eyes and sat up from under the covers.
Her first reaction was to turn her head to look for the person beside her.
Upon realizing what she was doing, she couldn’t help but sigh.
She really had been stuck to Qin Nanyu every day lately to the point of stupidity.
She had even come to take sleeping together with him as a matter of course.
Seeing him lying beside her, his arm still wrapped around her waist, she didn’t slap him away; instead, she wondered if he had finished all his work.
He must have slept late last night; the dark circles under his closed eyes were very noticeable.
She felt a pang of heartache.
She found it absurd but just couldn’t bring herself to wake him up.
She gently moved his arm off her waist and then got out of bed.
His rest room was fully equipped, and Ji Weitian found toiletries and a disposable towel in the bathroom.
After she finished freshening up, the man on the bed still hadn’t woken up.
Ji Weitian didn’t wake him and left the rest room on her own.
Coming out, she didn’t expect to see Song Shu waiting in the office.
When she thought of how she and Qin Nanyu had been alone together, a flush crept up her cheeks.
Even though they hadn’t done anything wrong, others would certainly not think so.
She wanted to explain, but she felt that any attempt to clarify now would seem as suspicious as the proverbial "thief who protests there’s no silver here."
"Miss Ji, you’re awake. When I came to the office, I brought breakfast for you both," the assistant said, pointing to the two portions on the table.
His tone was too normal, as if the scene before him hadn’t shocked him at all, nor had it led to any misunderstanding.
He treated Ji Weitian just as usual.
This eased a lot of Ji Weitian’s awkwardness.
She took the breakfast he handed her and said, "Thank you."
The assistant seemed surprised by her politeness and waved his hands, about to leave first, when he heard Ji Weitian quietly ask, "Assistant Song, do you know much about the Qin Family’s affairs?"
"What?" Song Shu paused in his steps, surprised, as if he hadn’t expected her to take an interest in the Qin Family’s affairs.
Ji Weitian also knew her question was abrupt and scratched her head, embarrassed.
