Chapter 603: Don’t You Want Me Anymore?
Qin Nanyu stared at her retreating figure until she was out of sight, his gaze slowly moving down to look at the card she had placed back in his palm, a wicked smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
Grasping the card in his hand was like holding onto her heart.
He had just seen it.
In her eyes, besides sympathy, there were other feelings.
She was feeling shy.
Watching her be shy hinted at something Qin Nanyu wasn’t entirely sure of, but at least he knew she wouldn’t regard his actions as mere compensation anymore.
He tossed all the bank cards back into the box just as his phone rang.
The frantic voice of his assistant came through from the other end.
"Boss, when do you plan to return to the Group? I’ve sent you all the documents that can be handled online, but I can’t sign the contracts for you. Your desk is already overflowing..."
"Now," Qin Nanyu interrupted the assistant who was about to continue his lamentations, speaking calmly.
The person on the other end of the call obviously didn’t expect him to be persuaded so easily.
After a few seconds of stunned silence, Qin Nanyu spoke again.
"Bring Ji Weitian with you."
Assistant: "..." He felt his boss had lost his mind.
Just shamelessly moved into her place and started to fantasize that she would accompany him to work overtime at the company.
The assistant didn’t dare to say or ask anything.
Once he was sure Qin Nanyu was coming back, he hung up the phone and anxiously waited.
An hour later, when he truly saw Qin Nanyu leading Ji Weitian into the entrance of Qin Technology Group, the assistant blinked several times as if he couldn’t believe his eyes.
Really brought her?
Had his boss, in just a few days, using methods as pure as a white lotus, managed to deceive her and rise to the top?
Regaining his composure, the assistant hurriedly went to greet them.
Fearing he might say something wrong because of his enthusiasm, he simply offered a polite greeting: "Boss, Miss Ji."
Then his gaze fell on their intertwined hands...
Ji Weitian noticed his gaze, her hand twitched, trying to withdraw from Qin Nanyu’s palm, but Qin Nanyu would not let go. The two struggled for about ten seconds before Qin Nanyu spoke first.
"My grandfather doesn’t want me anymore, asking me to come and sign a severance vow. Don’t you want me either?"
"..." Ji Weitian met his somber gaze, unconsciously giving up her resistance, letting him lead her through the crowd into the company.
The assistant greeting them was dumbfounded.
He had never imagined Qin Nanyu would use such an excuse to have Ji Weitian accompany him back to the company.
Now the assistant was even more worried about where he could find a severance vow for his boss to sign.
This was too hard for him!
-
In the president’s office.
The mountainous pile of documents was headache-inducing.
Ji Weitian didn’t understand business matters, she had just bathed her two little treasures an hour ago and was preparing to put them to sleep when Qin Nanyu appeared at the door like a large hound, his eyes red.
She felt a clench in her heart at that moment, a bad premonition washing over her.
Letting the two little ones sleep on their own, she pulled him into the living room to ask what was going on.
Unexpectedly, Qin Nanyu suddenly embraced her, his strength so intense as if he wanted to meld her into his body.
Without a word, he just kept rubbing his chin on her shoulder, like a child with no sense of security.
Unable to bear it, Ji Weitian carefully asked, "Did something happen?"
Only then did he mutter that the old man was really going to kick him out of the family, instructing him to go to the Group to handle the final procedures.
