Above The Sky

Chapter 1627 - 305: You Gu Descends from the Heavens

Beyond the clouds, there are more clouds. It is both a barrier and a natural phenomenon. The Cloudscape Domain brings together surrounding moisture and airborne organisms, creating a vast aerial ecosystem.

When the sapphire-like skyship cut through layers of drifting clouds, finally piercing the last misty veil, Yisen Gard, feeling slightly restless, couldn’t help but widen his eyes.

A whole new world unfolded before him.

First to catch his eye was a string of airborne islands resembling a necklace, arranged in concentric circles in three layers. Each island was lush and teeming with peculiar fluffy sky plants.

Around the islands, large bird-like creatures resembling giant albatrosses nested, flying in small groups around the islands. They stirred up rare gentle high-altitude breezes and emitted melodious calls.

The outermost island chain was the lowest in height, while the clouds supporting the second layer flowed steadily, resembling the Milky Way as they cascaded toward the first island chain, forming a structure similar to a champagne tower. At the top of this champagne tower, in the center of the third island chain, lay a vast aerial world.

That was the Floating Continent situated above all the cities of Terra, even above mountain peaks.

The capital of the City of Knowledge, the ’Heavenly Metropolis’.

Whirling gusts of swirling clouds continued to rotate, appearing from a distance like a white cloud tornado lifting the entire aerial continent. Thousands of high towers stood atop this city, dense buildings surrounding the towers, forming multiple small towns.

This was the destination of their current mission.

Even after witnessing the Imperial Capital’s grandeur and the World Tree City’s magnificence, the City of Knowledge offered a fresh kind of shock. Not only Yisen Gard, but other Imperial Nobility with hidden motives also silently gazed at the distant aerial city, their faces filled with awe, proud to have been invited to tread this ground.

Yisen Gard examined more closely.

He saw the entire City of Knowledge divided into hundreds of parts by the towns surrounding the towers. Connecting these airborne islands were sky bridges and small skyships. Like schools of fish, these small skyships formed the city’s main arteries, transporting various goods.

Huge cargo ships ascended from the ground, accelerated by special anti-gravity emitters to tens of thousands of meters in the sky. They reached designated cargo dump points, opened their doors, and goods rained down into corresponding warehouses through special guiding fields—everything automated, unlike the current style of Terra.

He also discovered that the high towers at the city’s center were not simply scholar pubs—they were acceleration launch towers. Single-person skyships shot out from the tower tops, gaining initial acceleration like fountains, gliding in arcs to various areas of the aerial city, then smoothly along sky paths, either charging or returning home.

The entire City of Knowledge was a giant aerial aircraft base—protected by three island chains, namely three super-massive fortress shield generators. It was a fortress that would forever hover above the Tranquil Sea!

No wonder, even with the chaos of the Fiery Flame Land, no intrusion was made into any corner of the City of Knowledge... Even the reckless Fiery Flame Kings understood that even without aid from the Terra Nations, the power of the single Heavenly Metropolis could not be overcome by their combined Fifth Energy Level forces.

As for now... Fortress shield generators on the three island chains were being replaced by planetary shield emitters from the Imperial Capital.

This city would soon be the second Unyielding Fortress in the sky!

"A super-massive aerial base..."

Yisen Gard murmured, "The final completed form of the Floating City is right here."

He fully comprehended why the Imperial Capital’s Floating City could be quickly put into use—because all technologies had been verified long ago, and The Empire was the only force willing to pay a huge price to acquire them.

The Shadedale was slowly descending to an area specifically pieced together for emissaries attending the recent meeting—the ’Envoy Isle’. Emissaries and representatives from various nations resided in this lush region, dotted with trees and elegant small buildings.

Many had already arrived, spreading across the island, observing the latest batch of newcomers.

"The Empire’s group?"

"Really slow. This bunch doesn’t understand courtesy."

"Wait, that blond young man getting off the ship..."

Given it’s a period of full-scale war, to avoid conflicts, the dwellings of nations currently in battle were kept separate.

Even though the City of Knowledge had a ban prohibiting mutual fighting, it couldn’t stop them from going to public areas and using words to provoke—considered a Terra-style greeting.

However, as soon as everyone saw Yisen Gard, their gaze shifted toward him.

There wasn’t even the previous whispering aboard the skyship, only a series of scorching stares from various regions, races, and major powers.

—Why is everyone paying attention to me?

Realizing this, Yisen Gard felt a little overwhelmed... He initially left the Imperial Capital, annoyed with being there, hoping things would be different at the City of Knowledge, yet found himself still under observation here, completely unable to understand why.
