Chapter 1255 601: Meeting Again
On the matter of going to Gusu to meet Mr. Xu, Qin Huai was undoubtedly a man of action. After Wang Gen Sheng expressed his willingness to go along, Qin Huai immediately booked tickets for him, Wang Gen Sheng, Shi Dadan, Qin Luo, and An Youyou, and conveniently booked a return ticket for Qin Luo on the 3rd.
Others could stay a few more days, but Qin Luo had to return on the 3rd, as the child needed to go back to school for classes.
The child was even carrying a backpack, with homework and toy planes inside. There was no way to complete all the holiday homework in just one night and a morning, so even in Gusu, they would still need to continue writing.
The patrons of Yunzhong Restaurant had already gotten used to Qin Huai's sudden disappearances. In fact, Qin Huai going to Gusu on the first day of the new year seemed entirely expected to many, with some customers who had managed to grab the last batch of Red Silk Cakes last night sighing, knowing that Master Qin wouldn't suddenly stay up late making snacks just for a New Year's giveaway.
There must be a reason behind it!
We can only sadly enjoy the snacks made by Pei Xing and Chen An at Yunzhong Restaurant, waiting for Master Qin to return soon.
On the plane to Shan City, An Youyou was drinking herself up like a buffalo, holding a beverage tasting event on the flight with Zhao Cheng'an, while asking Shi Dadan and Wang Gen Sheng what they planned to buy for Mr. Xu this time.
From a wallet perspective, An Youyou didn't want to buy anything.
Her last two-week trip visiting the younger ones had reaped significant rewards, but they hadn't materialized, resulting in substantial expenses instead. After returning to Huishan City, An Youyou first went to the antique market and found a cheap small table for 180 yuan, and then bought a 3,000-yuan altar table online the next month, which she thought was very beautiful and textured, even without wood polish.
With the altar table, naturally, fruits must be placed on it.
Since that day, An Youyou had been adamantly collecting unwanted fruits from Yunzhong Restaurant, much to Qin Huai's chagrin. Knowing An Youyou's financial state, spending 3,000 yuan on a table meant tightening the belt for a month, leaving no money to buy fruits from the expensive nearby fruit shop, Qin Huai simply covertly messaged Huang Xi to add apples, bananas, and tangerines to the employee meal menu.
Not every employee likes these fruits, so An Youyou thick-skinnedly begged for them from colleagues who didn't, who generously gave them to her; a few even curiously asked if she was raising rabbits, hamsters, or similarly, why she was seeking out discarded fruits.
Generously, An Youyou claimed she was raising a pet, a toad, which eats everything.
It could be said that amongst all the awakened spirits, only An Youyou maintains sustainably being broke.
Seeing the younger ones was certainly joyful for An Youyou but, as the big sister, visiting them empty-handed felt improper; however, shopping for them wasn't quite joyful.
On the plane, An Youyou tried convincing Shi Dadan and Wang Gen Sheng to follow her lead, buying a case of milk or a fruit basket for the retirement home would suffice—anything more expensive she really couldn't afford.
Shi Dadan and Wang Gen Sheng were reluctantly persuaded, as Wang Gen Sheng originally wanted to deliver two cases of milk.
After landing in Shanghai, the group transferred directly to the high-speed train heading to Gusu. Although Lin Qi was in Shanghai and typically they should have visited him, An Youyou understood the priorities of this trip, focused on heading directly to Gusu to see Mr. Xu, knowing they would fly back from Shanghai later, allowing them to visit Lin Qi in his retirement home on the return journey.
Dinner was, of course, held at Huang Ji.
Qin Huai had informed Huang Shengli the night before that they would come to Gusu the next day to visit Mr. Xu. Though puzzled why Qin Huai and the group were going to all the trouble for someone not closely related like Mr. Xu, as a mature adult, he didn't question it like Huang An Yao might have; he merely chuckled, saying it was fine as long as they had time to visit.
Huang Shengli reserved a private room for Qin Huai and personally cooked Three Course Duck, Squirrel Mandarin Fish, Wensi Tofu, and Sizzling Fried Eel, leaving Qin Luo clamoring, saying she could do four worksheet pages tonight.
Qin Huai didn't believe his sister's nonsense, saying that while on vacation, staying in separate rooms with no supervision, and carrying their cell phones, Qin Luo would be lucky to write half a sheet tonight.
Playing on her phone until 4 AM was more likely.
Wang Gen Sheng was not one to take advantage.
As soon as the meal ended, he asked Huang An Yao if Huang Ji needed help with accounting, leading to such heartfelt words from Accountant Wang that it nearly brought tears to Huang An Yao, who almost threw the USB drive and computer at him in a tearful hug.
Qin Huai hurriedly stopped Huang An Yao, advising him not to rush, as accounting was important but dealing with their primary task came first.
Reviewing Mr. Xu and then handling the accounts later wouldn't be too late.
With an early morning the next day, to prepare breakfast, Qin Huai went to bed early without checking in on Qin Luo to see if she was up late on her phone at two or three in the morning.
In the early morning of the next day, Qin Huai went to Huang Ji to prepare Fermented Rice with Steamed Buns and Red Silk Cake.
Yes, Red Silk Cake.
Red Silk Cake was a snack impossible for Wang Gen Sheng to forget, even if he couldn't mention it. So how would it be seen by Mr. Xu? Would Mr. Xu not know why his son ventured out to the countryside? As Xu Nuo's father, wouldn't he be aware of his unfortunate son's spending habits, and that Xu Nuo wanted to prepare something novel for the family on Mid-Autumn?
