Chapter 2712 - 2713: The Power of the Giant Turtle

After a long while, Bai Ruozhu finally emerged from her sorrowful emotions. She stepped out of the room and called Yuan Licheng and Sa Tian in.

"Sa Tian, Aluo has passed away. You’ve stayed in a monastery before, please chant sutras for his repose." Bai Ruozhu said.

Sa Tian looked in surprise at Aluo’s corpse, "Could it be that he..." committed suicide out of guilt?

"He did nothing against us, he just hid some things." Bai Ruozhu felt a bit stifled, "He died naturally; Merfolk can’t live past thirty."

Perhaps he could have held on a few more days, maybe they met the white dragon earlier, or perhaps they found the Dragon Ball sooner, things might not have come to this.

"Alright, I’ll chant sutras for his repose. He looks peaceful, it seems like he didn’t suffer." Sa Tian said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, then turned to Yuan Licheng and said, "He requested a sea burial, but I don’t want the Merfolk to discover him. Do you have a way to cast a small array on him?"

"Possible. If no Merfolk intentionally search for him, they shouldn’t discover it." Yuan Licheng replied.

"Good, I’ll leave it to you then. Later, the Merfolk’s Left Guardian will come to take me back to the island. After I leave, bury him at night." Bai Ruozhu instructed.

Bai Ruozhu left the room by herself. Yuan Licheng wanted to ask about Fo Lanying but, seeing Bai Ruozhu’s current state, decided not to speak up.

She went on deck to feel the sea breeze. Though it was salty and the sun was a bit harsh, everything was real, unlike the Merfolk Island where even the ground was fake.

After a while, Teng Liu came over to report, saying, "Master, the person has already been sent over to that boat."

"Alright, you also go rest. While I’m away, keep an eye on the ship below, and report any situation when I return." Bai Ruozhu said.

Teng Liu appeared worried, "Master, how many days will you be gone this time?"

Bai Ruozhu shook her head, "I don’t know. I’ll leave once the matter is resolved."

Teng Ya peeped out from the ship cabin, followed by Wa Wei. The two young girls sensed Bai Ruozhu’s bad mood and were a bit afraid to disturb her.

She waved them over to speak.

"Madam, why did you come back alone? Where are they?" Wa Wei asked.

"If you want to ask about Duannian, just say it." Bai Ruozhu lightly poked Wa Wei’s head, "He’s fine. No one recognized him, but we saw his father, still alive."

Wa Wei looked surprised but soon pursed her lips. So what if he’s alive? Duannian probably doesn’t want to see him.

"Aluo passed away. I’ll be leaving soon. Tonight, send him off. His wish was to be buried in this sea, but be careful not to alert the nearby Merfolk." Bai Ruozhu said.

"Ah... I just greeted him this morning, how did he die suddenly?" Teng Ya exclaimed in shock.

Bai Ruozhu made a gesture for silence, "He’s a Merfolk, escaped from the Merfolk Island. We can’t let nearby Merfolk find out. He was already thirty, Merfolk can’t live past thirty."

Wa Wei’s face turned pale, and her mood fell. Teng Ya noticed her reaction and quickly closed his mouth.

Bai Ruozhu patted Wa Wei’s shoulder, "Don’t worry, Duannian is still young. Once we find the Dragon Ball, the curse can be broken."

As for the Merfolk returning to live in the sea, it’s not within her concern; perhaps they can find another way out instead of trickery and deceit.

Yizi heard she returned and happily came to greet her, mentioning she had learned a new array method recently. Bai Ruozhu praised her a few times and mentioned Jianqi’s situation, which reassured Yizi.

When the time was almost right, Bai Ruozhu prepared some medicine, packed a medicine box, and made a show for Wenyu.

As expected, Wenyu appeared on time, standing on the whale’s back, "Lord Bai, are we ready to leave?"

"Alright." Bai Ruozhu jumped off the boat, landing steadily on the whale’s back with the medicine box.

"Let me carry that for you." Wenyu offered.

"Hold on tight, we’re leaving." Wenyu said.

The route was the same as before, and the whale swam swiftly. But suddenly, a powerful push came from beneath the sea. Bai Ruozhu felt a shock in her ears, a violent buzzing sound erupted. In an instant, the whale under her feet was pushed far back, causing her and Wenyu to sway, almost falling off.

"Damn!" Wenyu exclaimed, quickly wrapping an arm around her waist, forming a blue line with his other hand tightly around the whale’s head, "Chase it!"

Bai Ruozhu felt a great force pushing against her, her chest was tight and uncomfortable. Wenyu suddenly moved in front of her, the resistance reduced sharply, and her breathing became smoother.

"What’s going on?" She hurriedly asked.

"It’s just a slight change in the array, not a big deal." Wenyu said vaguely, but it was evidently more complicated. Bai Ruozhu thought carefully, and her face changed instantly.

From the sudden occurrence, and the fact they were constantly chasing, the giant turtle carrying the Merfolk Island had awoken, suddenly swimming away!

She didn’t know if her two ships were affected, but they were definitely far away now, leaving her unable to check.

And the buzzing sound that pained her ears must be the giant turtle’s call. Yet its sound wasn’t shockingly loud, but an attack by sound waves.

Boom, the same feeling struck again. Bai Ruozhu groaned in pain. Wenyu, in front of her, suddenly turned, pulling her into his arms to protect her tightly.

Bai Ruozhu pushed hard, "Let go of me!"

Wenyu breathed heavily, "Don’t move, you’re a valued guest. If anything happens, I can’t bear the responsibility."

A booming sound hit again. Bai Ruozhu tried pushing Wenyu away, but her head throbbed with pain. Her body went weak, falling downward. Wenyu rushed to catch her, but they still didn’t keep their footing, both falling off the whale’s back, sinking toward the seafloor...

Before losing consciousness, Bai Ruozhu had only one thought in mind: this giant turtle is terrifying. That the Merfolk dared control such a thing is simply playing with fire!

Meanwhile, on the Merfolk Island, chaos erupted because the giant turtle had awakened and moved suddenly, without any warning. The island wasn’t prepared, and many fell and rolled backward, things dropped due to inertia. But it seemed there was a large array on the turtle’s back, minimizing the impact on the island inhabitants.

In the palace, the great elder looked somewhat pale, "Hurry, find out what’s happening, why did it wake up suddenly?"

The giant turtle’s slumber had a pattern, without outside interference, it would sleep for at least three years unless a secret method was used to awaken it.
