Chapter 2532 - 2533: Impostor

"Furthermore, I’m afraid that aphrodisiac was sent to the Fushan Family by the Crown Prince. Whether he knows Fushan’s intentions, however, is uncertain," Bai Ruozhu added.

Shanhu gritted her teeth, "Regardless of whether he knows Fushan is targeting me, anyone who can give such a sinister potion isn’t good at all. I’ll remember this debt."

"Don’t rush. I’m not entirely sure yet. If I find out more, I’ll let you know."

Shanhu nodded, then said, "Madam, I need to recuperate lately and have no place to go. I wonder if I could accompany you?"

As she spoke, she glanced furtively at Qiu Zhiyi, still holding onto some attachment after their single night together.

"Very well, but we’re accompanied by another Yin Yang Master. If you don’t talk about your background, they might not let you join us," Bai Ruozhu said.

Shanhu took out a token from her waist, "I can show the Yin Yang Master the token from my sect."

Bai Ruozhu glanced at it. The token seemed to be made of jade or something, green and slightly lustrous, clearly not an ordinary item.

It was inscribed with ancient script, and Bai Ruozhu, not well-versed in ancient characters, only recognized the word "Jade."

"Alright, we’ll see what he thinks when the time comes," Bai Ruozhu said.

I wonder if the Astrologer had any luck in his pursuit.

The group began investigating in the City, but for two days, no Yin Yang Master left the City again. The Yin Yang Masters invited by the Fushan Family continued residing there. Perhaps Fushan, fearing Shanhu’s revenge after her escape, requested those masters to stay. With good food, accommodations, and payment, the Yin Yang Masters naturally agreed.

The agreed three days passed, and Zhitian received a message from the Astrologer, sent via a special bird, seemingly a hummingbird.

"Master Bai, my lord found that Yin Yang Master, but it wasn’t the one we’re seeking," Zhitian said, disappointed. "He’s already on his way back. Calculating the days, he should be able to meet with us within two more days."

Bai Ruozhu also felt a bit disappointed. If it had really been Ning Yu, how wonderful it would have been.

In the following two days, Shanhu’s health improved significantly, but losing half of her cultivation base left her looking somewhat pale.

Since that day, she hadn’t shared a room with Qiu Zhi again. Qiu Zhi found it inconvenient to squeeze in with Jianqi and the others, so he simply took another room with Jianqi.

However, Qiu Zhi silently continued caring for Shanhu, attending to her needs without hesitation.

"Your strength has increased, and the Master-servant Contract has automatically released, so why haven’t you told her?" Shanhu curiously asked Qiu Zhi.

Qiu Zhi scratched his head, "At the time, I signed the contract without her consent. She saved my master’s life, and I should repay her, but she said she didn’t need my gratitude, so I could only follow her this way. If she finds out the contract is undone, she’ll surely kick me out."

Shanhu laughed, "Master Bai is a good person. If you say you have nowhere to go, she won’t really drive you away."

Qiu Zhi also laughed, "I’ll mention it in the future. Following them has broadened my knowledge and brought many opportunities. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have met you."

Shanhu blushed, but her expression was somewhat melancholic. "Qiu Zhi, my sect forbids us from marrying. Without the sect, there’s no me, and I can’t betray it."

"I-I know, me too," Qiu Zhi said, a bit flustered.

Shanhu felt even more sorrowful, "Then let’s pretend nothing ever happened."

"Alright, whenever you need help, I’ll be there for you."

But Qiu Zhi dared not speak the last part aloud.

In less than two days, the Astrologer and his company returned, bringing with them an impostor Yin Yang Master.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at the person; it indeed wasn’t Ning Yu, nor would Ning Yu be so wretched.

The person’s robe was tattered and looked quite miserable, probably having suffered a lot on the journey.

"He merely wore a robe mimicking mine and did some disguise, from afar looking somewhat similar," the Astrologer glared at the person, his face darkening. This trick had cost him several days and made him feel played.

Bai Ruozhu, also annoyed, kicked the person, saying, "So ugly and yet had the gall to impersonate you. I should really ruin his face."

The impostor was frightened, crying immediately, tears and mucus covering his face, "Have mercy, my lord. I-I just wanted to scam some silver to retire. I truly haven’t done anything heinous."

Bai Ruozhu sneered, "You haven’t done anything heinous? Colluding with the Fushan Family’s son to murder your father isn’t heinous?"

The impostor’s face turned deathly pale, "I-I didn’t."

"I’ve investigated thoroughly. If you continue to be stubborn, I won’t hesitate to use torture," Bai Ruozhu said.

Then she called Shanhu over. Shanhu glanced at him and said, "It’s definitely him. Good thing he was captured back."

Seeing no way to hide the truth, the impostor cried, "The old Patriarch of the Fushan Family was wicked. I-I was also doing a public service."

"’Public service,’ you say? Those words from you disgrace the phrase," Bai Ruozhu kicked him again and turned to the Astrologer, "Why not deliver him to the Government Office and let them thoroughly investigate the Fushan Family’s affairs?"

"That sounds good. Normal accusations might not bring down Fushan, but parricide should suffice," the Astrologer nodded in agreement, then looked at Shanhu, "And who is this?"

Bai Ruozhu gave a brief introduction, "This is Shanhu, a Yin Yang Master invited by the Fushan Family. She’s injured and wishes to travel with us."

The Astrologer frowned, evidently reluctant.

Shanhu quickly presented her waist token.

"Yuchen Palace?" The Astrologer appeared quite astonished, "I haven’t seen anyone from Yuchen Palace in Fusang for many years."

"Years ago, a senior sister broke the sect’s rules, preventing us from traveling outside for years. It’s only this year that things relaxed," Shanhu replied.

"Alright, you can journey with us. If you need anything, let me know," the Astrologer said.

Bai Ruozhu was curious, what sort of place was Yuchen Palace that the Astrologer allowed a stranger to join them just after seeing the token?

"By the way, I remembered something. Shanhu overheard that the Fushan Family’s Patriarch’s death was conspired by the current Patriarch and this impostor. The demon might be wronged. Can Master Astrologer show mercy and save that demon?" Bai Ruozhu asked.

The Astrologer smiled, "That Yanzhi came to you for a reason because you, indeed, have a softer heart. I’ll temporarily release that Yanzhi and let her find her husband’s whereabouts. However, since they did commit murder, they need a thorough purification."
