A Sect from a Spirit Vein

Chapter 144 - 119: Sudden Murderous Intent

Chapter 144 - 119: Sudden Murderous Intent

Baojing Square was established by the Xuanguang Sect, located near the center of Chongming County. The foot traffic here is considerable, more bustling and prosperous than a typical medium-sized marketplace.

Lu Qian glanced at Guh Niqiang; her expression was normal, without the sudden loss of control like a few days ago.

With important matters at hand, the two naturally did not linger around. Lu Qian asked about the location of the Immortal Tea Pavilion and went there together with Guh Niqiang.

Arriving in front of the building, Lu Qian looked around. The building is five stories high, situated at the center of the marketplace. It is quite lively, and Lu Qian can feel several traces of Foundation Establishment Feather Scholars’ spiritual pressure here. Negotiations and meetings here are safely assured.

Thus, the two entered the building. The environment here is quiet and elegant, with soundproof arrays in place; the noise outside can’t penetrate in. Mentioning the names of the Spirit Talisman Sect and Shahe Gang briefly to the shopkeeper, his face beamed with smiles, and he summoned a servant to lead them to a private room on the third floor.

As soon as they knocked, the door was pulled open. A chubby man with a glowing face, fat head, and big ears laughed heartily, the fat on his face squeezing his eyes into narrow slits: "Sect Leader Lu is here, please come in, please come in."

Feeling the spiritual pressure from this chubby man, combined with his appearance, Lu Qian also smiled brightly and salutations were made: "Is this Gang Leader Han of the Shahe Gang in person? I’ve heard so much about you, my apologies for being disrespectful."

Han Wen turned sideways, his whole body trembling with fat, welcoming the two into the room. The room was elegantly decorated, with a silver incense burner lit in the corner, a fragrance of freshness and tea mingling together, relaxing the body and mind.

Upon entering the room, Lu Qian immediately saw another cultivator sitting upright; there was no one else in the room.

That cultivator was also of Foundation Establishment Cultivation, with a long beard and purple complexion, looking scholarly, but his expression was cold. Seeing Lu Qian come in, he merely nodded, not even bothering to stand.

Nonetheless, Lu Qian maintained his smile and still greeted him: "This Feathered Scholar must be Sect Leader Yinn of the Spirit Talisman Sect, truly a pleasure to meet in person, my salutations."

Yinn Hongbo merely grunted, clasping his hands, which counted as a return of courtesy. Just then, Han Wen loudly invited: "Sect Leader Lu, this Fairy, please be seated."

Lu Qian and Guh Niqiang sat down. Han Wen sat boldly with Yinn Hongbo, like a mountain of meat. The chair underneath him creaked under the weight, causing Lu Qian to wince inwardly, estimating this hefty fellow must weigh upwards of three hundred pounds.

Hardly had they settled, when Yinn Hongbo coldly said: "Sect Leader Lu, right? Today we’re discussing important matters among the three families. Your cultivation is lacking, wouldn’t it be better if you brought a true Foundation Establishment from your sect to join us? Or is the decision-maker of the Yunshan Sect this Fairy?"

The sentence was riddled with traps, and Lu Qian felt a subtle stir within but replied unhurriedly: "Though my cultivation is not high, the Foundation Establishment members of my sect follow my command. I can manage any matters alone. As for this Fairy Guh Niqiang, she is indeed one of our sect’s elders."

This little brat isn’t simple. Han Wen laughed heartily, seemingly smoothing things over: "Sect Leader Yinn shouldn’t underestimate him. Sect Leader Lu, young as he is, leads the Yunshan Sect and silently obliterated the Chaosheng Sect; such power is admirable. Now, having unified the southern part of Chongming County, with the rear secured and the front strong, we should extend them some courtesy."

His words implied more, causing Yinn Hongbo’s face to darken, while Lu Qian chuckled: "Gang Leader Han jests, my Yunshan Sect always loves peace. Now that our three families are neighbors, it is natural to coexist harmoniously and progress together. I’ve heard of Shahe Gang’s strength, dominating the northeast without a single defeat, with local sects following their lead. I, too, am willing to follow suit, adhering to Shahe Gang’s arrangements."

Upon hearing this, Yinn Hongbo snorted coldly, displeased; Han Wen chuckled, a perceptive gleam appearing in his small eyes.

He’s a cunning little fellow, the words aren’t drawn out, but instead begins to sow discord between Shahe Gang and Spirit Talisman Sect.

"Spirit Talisman Sect has a long legacy in Chongming County; they’re our seniors. Our Shahe Gang never had any ambitions, as long as we can collaborate with the Spirit Talisman Sect and safeguard our territory, we would be completely satisfied." Han Wen said happily, "Sect Leader Lu’s words on good neighbors and friendliness are quite to my liking. By the way, Yunshan Sect’s recent rise means you’re not yet registered with Xuanguang Sect? I’m happy to act as the introducer for Sect Leader Lu, shall we forge a benevolent tie?"

Lu Qian smiled slightly, yet to speak, when Yinn Hongbo shook his head and angrily said: "Gang Leader Han is overly kind. Back then, we had close relations with Chaosheng Sect, knowing each other’s roots which maintained harmony. Now, knowing nothing of Yunshan Sect, how can we agree so easily? We must be cautious of inviting a wolf into our home."

His words carried barbs, but Lu Qian was unfazed, instead shifting the conversation: "All the bustle is for benefit, back then Chaosheng Sect and the two families had a shared management of Shazhou Square, which built a foundation of trust. My Yunshan Sect can follow suit, we form a partnership in business, and won’t we become very close?"

Han Wen clapped his hands and laughed: "Doing business is good, doing business is good, harmony brings wealth; I like it the most. So you say, Yunshan Sect and Shuangye Alliance want to invest in our Shazhou Square? I’m curious, Sect Leader Lu, how much do you wish to contribute?"

Lu Qian with complete calmness replied: "Gang Leader Han misunderstood, my sect annexed Chaosheng Sect, the original two percent dry share owned by Chaosheng Sect naturally became ours. With this two percent share, our Yunshan Sect naturally hopes for peace among the three families, and to earn wealth together."

"Absurd!" Yinn Hongbo slapped the table, causing the tea table in front of him to shatter, "With Zhang Shouchang dead, the dry share naturally reverts, what does it have to do with your Yunshan Sect? Ridiculously laughable little brat!"
