Chapter 1776 - 403: Edge of Heaven and Earth—I’ll Never Forgive You (Second Update)_2

This isn’t a home, it’s a complete garbage dump.

"Oh my god, is this a place for people to live?" she exclaimed, covering her mouth.

Kang Qi rolled up his sleeves and began tidying up the house. Just as she was about to help, Kang Qi shook his head, "Let me do it myself."

Yan Xing finally found a spot to sit on the sofa. Watching Kang Qi bustling around, she began to pity him. She never imagined his home would be this poor...

The opposite wall was plastered with awards, covering it from elementary school to high school, all bearing Kang Qi’s name. She thought to herself, how inspirational...

She accidentally touched something and held it up to her eyes to take a look. It was transparent and stuck together. She curiously asked, "Kang Qi, what is this? A balloon?"

As Kang Qi saw what was in her hand, his pupils suddenly contracted. He quickly walked over and knocked it out of her hand, "Throw it away, quickly."

Yan Xing let out a soft "ow," glaring at him resentfully, "Why did you hit me so hard? It hurts, my hand is all red from it."

Yan Xing held up her hand in front of him. Her skin was naturally fair, and the spot where Kang Qi had hit was a large red patch, looking very conspicuous.

"Sorry, I was a bit heavy-handed," Kang Qi said softly, picking up the object and throwing it into the trash bag.

His earlobes turned red without him realizing it.

Yan Xing’s eyes darted around, "You still haven’t told me what it was?"

"You’re better off not knowing," Kang Qi’s cool voice slowly echoed.

Yan Xing pouted, noticing a cardboard box on the lower shelf under the coffee table. Out of curiosity, she picked it up for a look, and upon seeing the words on it, she screamed and quickly tossed it aside.

"Why do you have this kind of thing here?" The thought that she actually touched it with her hand made Yan Xing want to die.

Kang Qi glanced at her, picked up the box, and casually placed it in the drawer.

"Why are you keeping it?" Yan Xing quickly ran over, took the thing out and threw it into the trash bag, glaring at him fiercely, "Are you up to no good with me?"

Kang Qi rolled his eyes, "You insisted on following me. Now you’re scared, huh?" He looked at Yan Xing with a half-smile.

"You scoundrel, I must have been blind to misjudge you." Yan Xing said, picked up her bag, and left.

Kang Qi moved as if to go after her, watching as the girl slammed the door and left. He sighed, his eyes filled with a sorrow that couldn’t be dissolved.

See, in this world, no girl would stay with him after knowing about his family situation.

Even though he only knew her for a day, why did he feel so terrible inside?

Kang Qi, you really are insane.

It’s just, the outside is so dangerous, and she’s so innocent, in a place where she knows no one. What if she runs into bad people?

Even if she were a stranger, he couldn’t just watch her get into trouble with his eyes wide open.

Kang Qi turned around and chased after her.

"You scoundrel, I never thought you would be that kind of person, boo hoo hoo..." Yan Xing started crying as she spoke, mourning the first love that had just begun and ended.

"Seems like a decent guy, who knew he was a scumbag? He must have tricked me on purpose, huh, this lady won’t fall for it." Yan Xing huffed and walked forward.

This place was so remote. Apart from the bare asphalt road, all she could see was an endless field of rice paddies. She couldn’t even tell east from west; where should she go?

A drunken man approached her head-on. Yan Xing clutched her bag and hurried along with her head down, but as she passed the drunkard, he suddenly grabbed her arm. Yan Xing was terrified, grabbed her bag, and hit him over the head with it while yelling, "Help... Help...."

The drunkard seized her wrist that held the bag, his eyes leering, "Little girl... All by yourself... How about having some fun with uncle?"

The fear inside Yan Xing expanded infinitely. Was this it for her?

She regretted running out. Compared to this drunkard, at least Kang Qi looked good...

Boo hoo hoo... She finally cried out loudly, "Kang Qi... Save me...."

The next moment, the drunkard was suddenly kicked, stumbling. Yan Xing was pulled toward his direction, screaming shrilly, but another arm caught her, and she fell into a warm embrace.

Her cheek crashed into that hard chest, making her grimace in pain. In her panic, she caught a familiar scent of soap mixed with grass and sunshine, and tears instantly welled up and flowed.

Whether she was hurt or something else, her tears just uncontrollably streamed down her face.

"Are you alright?" A voice came from above, laced with a hint of worry amidst its coolness.
