Chapter 1387 - 273: Chilly Night, Fading Spring (Part 1)

Lu Yuke paused as she spoke.

Yan Song’s cold eyes narrowed slightly: "What happened once?"

Lu Yuke pressed her lips together, excitement and ferocity flashing in her eyes, "Once I discovered that Yan Guoshou was secretly keeping a mistress outside. That little wench was about to give birth. I thought of this organization and had them kill the wench. They were highly efficient; the next day, that wench died in a car accident, and even the police found no clues. Only then did I realize this was not a scam. Though I’m uncertain of their true motives, if I can use them, I won’t question too much. Later on, they helped me get rid of many of Yan Guoshou’s lovers, and no one ever detected a thing. Even Yan Guoshou thought he was terribly unlucky... Hahaha, the old fool, I’ll make him understand what it costs to betray me..."

Yan Song hadn’t expected to extract such significant information from Lu Yuke. Assassins are in the business of killing, and without a profit motive, who would choose a life of licking blood from the blade? Yet this organization worked for free and was so mysterious, communicating via codes. Why had he never heard of such an organization before?

After killing, when even the police can find no evidence, it indicates this organization’s assassins are extremely ruthless and seasoned. Thinking of a mysterious assassin organization hidden in the shadows, Yan Song’s fists clenched slightly.

"I’ve told you everything I know, you must save Feng’er."

Yan Song’s cold eyes narrowed, "If I find out you lied even a little, you know the consequences."

"Reaching this point, what do I have to hide?" Lu Yuke’s tone was somewhat helpless.

Yun Ya took a deep look at Lu Yuke. This woman seemed off. Had she really resigned herself, or was she acting?

"You must be careful of Pei Ying; she’s the most ruthless, and she was involved in the events back then too," Lu Yuke said.

Leaving the basement and standing above ground, Yun Ya exhaled deeply.

Yan Song held her hand, which was cold and frightening, his brows furrowing involuntarily: "I shouldn’t have brought you here."

Yun Ya smiled and said, "When dealing with people like her, your iron-fisted methods would only make her tighten her grip."

"Yes, yes, you’re the clever one, with superior tactics, I admit defeat, okay?" Yan Song blinked with a smile.

"Annoying," Yun Ya chided playfully, giving him a flirtatious glare.

Yan Song’s Adam’s apple bobbed suddenly, but he managed to restrain himself.

In the shadows, as a figure watched the two leave, it quietly retreated. Mingyue watched from the treetops, curling her lips in disdain.

As Yun Ya just returned to her room, Meng Shujing hurriedly came in without knocking, pausing when she saw Yan Song.

Yan Song furrowed his brows slightly, stood up, and said to Yun Ya, "I have some things to attend to, I’ll take my leave, get some rest."

Yun Ya nodded with a smile.

Yan Song nodded at Meng Shujing and then left the room.

Meng Shujing walked over quickly, "How did it go?"

Yun Ya poured a cup of tea and placed it on the table in front of Meng Shujing, then poured another for herself, sipping leisurely, her serene demeanor driving Meng Shujing almost to the brink.

"What answer do you want?" Yun Ya asked eerily.

"You know the answer," Meng Shujing had no mind for hot tea.

"Don’t you already have the answer in your heart?" Yun Ya retorted calmly.

Meng Shujing initially widened her eyes in disbelief, then nearly jumped for joy, but she restrained herself, took a deep breath, and smiled smugly: "Old witch, even you have such a day."

Yun Ya glanced at her; this woman was too impatient, no wonder she had been suppressed by Lu Yuke for so many years, it was understandable.

Meng Shujing looked at Yun Ya and suddenly laughed, "Yun Ya, you’re really amazing."

"I just did what I was supposed to do," Yun Ya replied coolly, cutting off Meng Shujing’s next words.

Meng Shujing hesitated for a moment, tentatively asking, "Where is she... now?"

"In a very safe place."

Meng Shujing bit her lip. "Yun Ya, I want to..."

"No," Yun Ya denied outright before she could finish, knowing exactly what she intended.

"You’ll never see Lu Yuke again, but, Aunty, let me advise you; this isn’t necessarily a good thing. As the saying goes, ’When one prospers, all prosper; when one fails, all suffer.’ Even though you don’t get along with Lu Yuke, if she loses power, do you know what you will face next?"

Meng Shujing froze momentarily, to be honest, she hadn’t considered this question. Now that Yun Ya had bluntly pointed it out, sharp and straightforward, she almost felt overwhelmed.
