Chapter 1326 - 257: Feared Like the Wind, Preparation for the Coming Storm

The heavy rain fell all night, and early the next morning, the sky was gray and oppressive.

The rain slowed down, turning into a light drizzle.

Yun Ya woke up early, waiting to return to the Capital City with Yan Song, but received some bad news instead.

The main road back to the Capital City was blocked by a landslide caused by the rain last night. The armed police and traffic officers were working in the rain to repair it, but it wouldn’t be clear until noon.

That meant the two of them had to wait here until noon.

Xilan Lake is a newly developed tourist spot, and many facilities are still being improved. There was only a small supermarket nearby. After realizing they couldn’t go back, Yan Song asked Jiang Xiang to buy some ingredients from the supermarket, as he would personally cook breakfast for Yun Ya.

Jiang Xiang walked in with a large bag, "The landslide has stopped delivery trucks, and this is what the supermarket had left over from yesterday. It’s not fresh, and they didn’t have the mushroom caviar you wanted...."

"Never mind, this will do." Yan Song took the bag and went into the kitchen, rolling up his sleeves to start cooking.

Yun Ya followed and asked, "Brother Yan, what are you going to make?"

Yan Song cracked some eggs and replied, "Egg pancakes."

"Then what can I do to help, Brother Yan?"

Yan Song glanced at her, unable to resist a slight smile: "Go and wait for me outside."

"I want to help lighten your load...."

Yan Song pointed to the bag: "Then you can prepare the green onions."

Yun Ya happily ran over and started picking through the green onions one by one. She had never even touched a leaf of a vegetable growing up, let alone peeled onions. But, as they say, you’ve seen pigs run even if you haven’t eaten pork.

"Chop off the top and the end...like this...." Yan Song saw Yun Ya peeling off the onion leaves layer by layer and intervened, picking up one to show her. Yun Ya imitated him and laughed, "This is quite fun."

Fun? Yan Song shook his head helplessly, knowing he would never get to eat a dish cooked by Yun Ya. She was a genius, but when it came to cooking, she was clueless. Perhaps every genius has their shortcomings.

"I’m done peeling. Brother Yan, do you need me to do anything else?"

"Go sit outside. That’s the best way you can help me." Yan Song quickly whisked the eggs, exuding elegance even while cooking.

"Brother Yan, look at the camera."

Yan Song turned his head instinctively, "Click," as Yun Ya captured the moment forever on her phone screen.

"Alright, I won’t cause you any more trouble. I’m going out." Yun Ya walked out holding her phone, while Jiang Xiang stood by, looking serious.

Yun Ya glanced up at her and patted the seat next to her: "Sister Jiang Xiang, sit here."

Jiang Xiang shook her head respectfully, standing even straighter.

Yun Ya didn’t press her, resting her chin in her hands and asking, "Sister Jiang Xiang, how old are you this year?"

"Twenty-two."

"Where are you from, Sister Jiang Xiang? Your accent doesn’t sound like it’s from the Capital City," Yun Ya asked curiously.

Jiang Xiang smiled slightly: "I’m from Ha City. I joined the military when I was seventeen."

"Oh, then you must miss home a lot, Sister Jiang Xiang...."

Jiang Xiang unconsciously relaxed and shared more with Yun Ya: "Yes, but fortunately, my parents are in good health. When I was in the army, we had family visitation leave every year, so I could go back to see them."

"Oh, what do your parents do? They must be outstanding since they raised such an excellent daughter like you."

"Both my parents are in the military, so I followed in their footsteps from a young age."

"So your whole family is in the military. I admire soldiers the most...."

Seeing Yun Ya’s adoring eyes, Jiang Xiang couldn’t help but grin.

Soon Qin Du and Ning Zihuan came downstairs. Both had hangovers from drinking last night, and Ning Zihuan was still unsteady on his feet. When he saw Yun Ya, he rushed over, only to be kicked away by Jiang Xiang. Seeing that Yun Ya was unbothered, Jiang Xiang secretly sighed with relief.

Ning Zihuan rubbed his chest as he got up, his face dark: "Damn, you shrew, who do you think you are? Get lost."

Jiang Xiang snorted coldly. This man was absolutely shameless.

"Zihuan, why are you so irritable early in the morning? What’s wrong?" Yun Ya asked gently.

Ning Zihuan coughed, plopping down next to Yun Ya: "We rarely get to meet up; I want to have a proper chat with you. When will you come back to Jiangzhou with me?"

Yun Ya smiled: "Go back with you?"

Ning Zihuan responded matter-of-factly: "Your home is in Jiangzhou. What’s the point of staying in the unfamiliar Capital City? Do you really want to live with the Yan Family forever?"
