Chapter 991: Distressed!
Chapter 991: Distressed!
Mu Yan vaguely heard Lan Xi mention the family backgrounds of Zheng Lu Hua and Jian Shaohan. She used to envy their childhood sweetheart relationship. Now it seems, although they were childhood sweethearts, but not necessarily in love.
The so-called marriage is nothing but the expectations of parents and elders. Perhaps they have no say in it at all.
"Does Jian Shaohan not like Huahua at all?" She couldn’t help but ask.
"I don’t know." Jiang Jingheng said indifferently, what does it matter to him about others’ affairs?
He looked at Mu Yan and said quietly, "Grandpa scolded me today."
"Ah?" Mu Yan looked at him in surprise, "Why did he scold you?"
"Work-related matters," Jiang Jingheng said vaguely.
Mu Yan felt a bit distressed, "You work so hard, why does he scold you?"
"Maybe he just doesn’t like me," Jiang Jingheng said lightly.
Mu Yan thought about his situation in the Jiang Family and felt even more unhappy, "They may not like you, but I do."
"Hmm," Jiang Jingheng responded.
"Have you had dinner?" Mu Yan asked again.
"Not yet."
"They are so stingy, scold you and don’t even give you dinner?" Mu Yan was infuriated, "They’re too much."
Jiang Jingheng watched her angry expression, a smile spreading in his eyes like peach blossoms.
"If they don’t give you dinner, don’t you know to eat outside?" Mu Yan turned her head and glared at him.
"Nobody to accompany me, can’t eat," Jiang Jingheng replied.
Mu Yan felt a bit guilty hearing that; she should have been there for him at that time.
"It’s my fault, let’s go eat now."
"Hmm."
On the way, Mu Yan didn’t spend a moment thinking about Zheng Lu Hua’s affairs; all she could think about was Jiang Jingheng, afraid that she might overlook him in any way.
It was almost ten o’clock now, many shops were closed, only street stalls were open, so the two simply went home to cook.
The fridge was stocked with various vegetables, more than enough for a meal.
Feeling it was her oversight, Mu Yan insisted on cooking for him.
Seeing her insisting, Jiang Jingheng did not object. However, he did all the chopping and washing of vegetables, fearing she might injure her hand.
Initially, he wanted to help add the oil, but Mu Yan drove him out of the kitchen.
"If you keep helping, this dish will be your doing."
Jiang Jingheng chuckled and finally stopped but didn’t leave the kitchen.
The two crowded in a kitchen cooking, even without speaking, felt very warm.
About an hour later, two dishes and a soup were ready.
Sautéed fish, stir-fried pork with green peppers, and seaweed egg drop soup.
Mu Yan usually eats dinner early, so she was hungry too and served herself a bowl of rice.
She brought out two glasses of juice and saw Jiang Jingheng taking pictures of the food with his phone.
She chuckled, "Since when did you start liking to take pictures before meals?"
"Learned from Mrs. Jiang," Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow.
As he spoke, he posted on Weibo the edited document he made.
Mu Yan lightly snorted, handed him a glass of juice, then sat down across from him, and started to eat.
She was just about to pick up some fish when she saw a large piece of perfectly deboned fish placed in her bowl, the meat from the fish belly—he gave it all to her.
She looked up at him, "Eat your food, don’t only worry about me."
"Hmm," Jiang Jingheng said, but didn’t forget to add more food to her bowl.
Mu Yan was helpless against him, and served him some food in return.
While they were eating warmly, the internet erupted because Jiang Jingheng suddenly resurfaced, posting in the middle of the night.
