Chapter 982: Limited Abilities

Chapter 982: Limited Abilities

The assault was relentless, and Mu Yan had no choice but to retreat step by step, ultimately conceding territory and compensations, yet she was still bullied unjustly. Before falling asleep, she vaguely saw the sky brightening through the window, but she didn’t have time to be annoyed and soon dozed off.

When she woke up again, it was already noon.

Even though she had slept for several hours, Mu Yan still felt sleepy. Had someone not disturbed her, she wouldn’t have woken up.

"Go away," she murmured softly, her voice gentle and slightly playful.

Unfortunately, the person next to her remained unmoved, continuing to pester her to get up as if reciting scriptures.

"Come on, get up and eat something first. You can sleep again once you’re full."

"Not eating," she said, eyes closed, face full of impatience.

Jiang Jingheng came to her ear and continued, "There’s the crystal dumpling you like, and chicken feet, and I even made you red date yam black chicken soup. Get up and try it."

Suddenly, Mu Yan raised her hand and pushed his face away, "Why are you so annoying?"

"Not eating is bad for your stomach," Jiang Jingheng patiently explained.

She had eaten dinner at six in the afternoon yesterday, and it had already been eighteen hours. She needed to eat something.

"Then whose fault is it that I’m so sleepy now?" Mu Yan opened her eyes and glared at him.

"It’s my fault," Jiang Jingheng quickly admitted, though in Mu Yan’s eyes, it lacked sincerity.

What’s the use of admitting fault if he’ll just do it again next time?

Mu Yan snorted softly, not wanting to pay him any attention, and wrapped herself in the quilt again.

Jiang Jingheng had no choice but to embrace her along with the quilt.

He whispered, "Shall I bring it up here and feed you then?"

"You’re so annoying, I’ll say it again, I’m not eating," Mu Yan threw a tantrum, her mood worsened by her serious morning grumpiness.

The room suddenly fell quiet, and Mu Yan’s irritable mood cooled down, making her a bit more awake.

Slowly opening her eyes, she saw Jiang Jingheng looking at her calmly.

Realizing what she had just said, she felt a bit nervous, wondering if she’d upset him.

Jiang Jingheng suddenly smiled, "Awake?"

His smile wiped away all her worries in an instant.

He would never get mad at her. Sometimes, this is why she’s so fearless.

With a hint of grievance on her little face, she said, "It’s all your fault, now I’m both sleepy and hungry."

Jiang Jingheng, not fooled by this little act, responded to her words, "Then rest a bit more, I’ll go bring the food up."

"Okay," Mu Yan nodded, with half her face hidden under the quilt. Her dark shiny almond eyes were turning playfully, making her look extremely adorable.

Jiang Jingheng looked at her, his heart itching, and couldn’t resist reaching out to lightly tap her nose, "Be good, wait for me."

He put her back on the bed and got up to head outside.

Watching his back, Mu Yan suddenly realized a problem: it seemed like she was the one accusing him, but in the end, it was her being all obedient.

Not long after, Jiang Jingheng came back upstairs with food.

By then, Mu Yan had gotten up to brush her teeth and returned to the bed to wait for him.

Jiang Jingheng placed the food tray on the bedside table, picked up the soup bowl, and looked at her, "Will you eat by yourself, or should I feed you?"

"You feed me," Mu Yan responded decisively.

Jiang Jingheng smiled, picked up a spoon, and began feeding her the soup, occasionally giving her a crystal dumpling or a chicken foot, even wiping her mouth for her.

Mu Yan took a sip of the soup and suddenly said, "You’re definitely going to be a good dad someday."

His caregiving skills were just impeccable.

Jiang Jingheng’s eyes turned deep, and he chuckled softly, "I barely keep up with taking care of you alone, how could I have time for anyone else?"

Mu Yan looked a bit displeased, "Am I that hard to take care of?"

"Of course not, it’s just that my abilities are limited," Jiang Jingheng replied smoothly.

Mu Yan was satisfied with this answer and took another sip of soup.
