A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 965: Keeping the Peace

Chapter 965: Keeping the Peace

In Ruan Xinyu’s impression, her husband is steady and filial. Although he doesn’t smile often, he is polite to others. Seeing him in such a rage is truly rare.Especially as the object of his anger is his parents.

This reminded her of the afternoon many years ago when Ah Ning disappeared. He was like a madman then, almost turning the house upside down.

That was the first time she saw him use his fists, punching his younger brother with the force that seemed intent on beating him to death.

She always felt her husband was indifferent to everyone, including her—courteous but lacking intimacy.

Yet, he genuinely cared about Ah Ning.

She had heard from her mother-in-law that when Ah Ning came to the Zhuang Family, the little aunt Jiaoyang was born too. Her mother-in-law couldn’t take care of two girls, fortunately, Ah Ning was older and usually watched over by the elder brother, her husband.

Perhaps, in his heart, Ah Ning is just like his daughter, or maybe there are other feelings involved.

And now he cares so much for Nuannuan; isn’t it a case of loving her along with the house?

Ruan Xinyu watched her husband’s furious face, "Dad and Mom are in a tough spot. They’ve already kicked the second brother out, and if they punish Jiaojiao too, outsiders might start guessing if something major happened with our Zhuang Family. The Guan Family and Liang Family are involved here, and these aren’t people that can be dealt with lightly. Besides, the Guan Family came sincerely to apologize this time, and we can’t just ignore it."

Zhuang Zeyang closed his eyes; he understood the reasoning, but the same thing happening repeatedly inevitably left him feeling unresolved.

He suddenly asked, "Where’s Nuannuan? Is she not angry?"

"She doesn’t seem angry, she stayed in the room all afternoon," Ruan Xinyu replied, but truly not being angry seems impossible.

Yet with her husband angry now, she couldn’t pour gasoline on the fire.

"Dinner will be ready soon, go change your clothes," Ruan Xinyu said, taking out a piece of clothing from the wardrobe and handing it to him.

Zhuang Zeyang nodded, took off his suit, and accepted the clothes from her.

Ruan Xinyu took the suit, hung it in the wardrobe; the couple worked in unspoken harmony.

Downstairs, in the dining room, everyone was seated.

In front of Mu Yan was a large pot of stewed black chicken soup, prepared specially by the kitchen for her that evening.

Jiang Jingheng served her a bowl; Mu Yan drank two bowls without a fuss.

Since she understood certain things, she also needed to find her position.

This was not the place for her to vent, and she was already married, returning perhaps only once or twice a year.

She could feel several gazes upon her, but tried her best to ignore them.

After the meal, Jiang Jingheng received a call from abroad and went upstairs.

Mu Yan went to the kitchen, brought a plate of fruit upstairs, and met Zhuang Yi at the staircase.

Zhuang Yi looked at her and asked, "You didn’t talk much this evening, feeling down?"

"No," Mu Yan replied, puzzled, "Why do you say that?"

"Grandfather and Grandmother favored Zhuang Chujiao. You must be upset about it," Zhuang Yi said, sure of himself.

Mu Yan looked at his adamant expression and asked, "You seem to wish I were upset?"

Zhuang Yi was taken aback for a moment and quickly said, "I don’t. I’m just worried you’ll stew over it."

"I won’t," Mu Yan responded calmly.

Seeing the clarity in her eyes, Zhuang Yi felt relieved and smiled, "Jiaojiao breaking her leg this time is a lesson; don’t blame Grandfather and Grandmother for being partial. You’re both their granddaughters, and they don’t want any of you to be hurt."

Mu Yan found his relieved expression somewhat glaring and couldn’t help but say, "You make it sound like I broke her leg."
