Chapter 494: We Are Not Suitable!

Chapter 494: We Are Not Suitable!

The two of them arranged to meet at the café.Zhao Xiyue arrived to find Yin Manqing already there.

"Auntie, I’m sorry I’m late." Zhao Xiyue sat down across from her, taking off her sunglasses and hat.

After the car accident incident, Zhao Xiyue had lost a lot of weight and looked a bit lifeless.

Yin Manqing looked at her gaunt face and asked, "Why have you lost so much weight? Have you not been eating well lately?"

Zhao Xiyue touched her cheek and said, "Yeah, I’m losing weight for a new role recently."

Yin Manqing didn’t believe her and asked, "Is it because of your marriage with Jing Heng? If he’s treating you badly, you should tell me. I can help you make the decision, but the marriage can’t be called off."

"Auntie, it’s not that." Zhao Xiyue replied, "I’m not suitable for him; forcing it won’t end well."

"How are you not suitable? You two grew up together." Yin Manqing frowned, "Is it a problem with him?"

"No, it’s my problem!" Zhao Xiyue answered.

Yin Manqing looked at her in surprise, "You don’t like Jing Heng anymore?"

"Yes, I like someone else." Zhao Xiyue nodded.

"You’re lying to me!" Yin Manqing didn’t believe it.

She knew Zhao Xiyue liked Jiang Jingheng, which was why she wanted to arrange a marriage with the Zhao family.

First, she thought her future daughter-in-law could align with her, and as long as she liked Jing Heng, the Zhao family wouldn’t refuse the marriage.

"Auntie, why would I lie to you?" Zhao Xiyue smiled slightly.

She was an excellent actress, very good at controlling her emotions.

Yin Manqing held her hand earnestly and said, "Auntie watched you grow up. If you didn’t like him, you wouldn’t have agreed to the marriage before."

Zhao Xiyue’s eyes flickered, and she apologized, "Auntie, I agreed to marry him because I had a fight with my boyfriend. I did it to spite him; it was my stubbornness. I’m very sorry for disappointing your kindness."

Yin Manqing still didn’t believe her, but no matter how she tried to get the truth out of Zhao Xiyue, she couldn’t, so she had to let her leave.

She had long decided on this marriage and naturally investigated the people around Zhao Xiyue.

Her private life was very clean; she simply didn’t have a boyfriend.

After leaving the café, Zhao Xiyue returned to her car.

She let out a light breath, finally done dealing with Yin Manqing.

She took out her phone and made a call.

"I’ve told your mom. I called off the engagement because I have someone else I love, but whether she believes me or not, I don’t know."

"I think..." She was about to say something else, but the call was already disconnected on the other side.

Zhao Xiyue looked at her phone and sneered, not even willing to say one more word to her.

The unwilling feeling in her heart ignited once more, and she tossed her phone onto the passenger seat.

Even though she lost to Mu Yan in love, she would never admit defeat in her career.

In the afternoon, Lan Xi came over to the floral shop.

As soon as she entered, she said, "Boss, give me ninety-nine bouquets of ninety-nine red roses!"

Mu Yan was arranging flowers, the voice sounded familiar, and when she looked up and saw her, she smiled, "Why are you here?"

"Of course, to show my support." Lan Xi laughed and looked around, clicking her tongue twice, "Business is booming here; I think you could leave the entertainment industry and focus on running the flower shop."

"Stop joking." Mu Yan laughed, "You sit first; I’ll talk with you after I’m done."

"Alright!" Lan Xi nodded, sitting on the coffee table to rest.

The workload in the afternoon kept Mu Yan on her toes; she was busy until six in the evening, and Lan Xi, bored, played with her phone.

When it was time to get off work, Mu Yan said, "Let’s go, I’ll take you out for dinner."

Lan Xi immediately said, "No, I don’t want to have dinner with you and Brother Jiang."

"Why?" Mu Yan was a bit surprised.

Lan Xi chuckled, "A single dog can’t handle the stimulation, no, it’s a critical hit!"

Mu Yan laughed, "Don’t worry, Brother Jiang is going back to the main house today, he won’t be joining us for dinner."

Lan Xi let out a sigh of relief, hooked her arm around Mu Yan’s, "Alright, then I’ll reluctantly agree to your invitation."
