Chapter 714 - 714
Chapter 714 - 714
Another round of passion.
By the time it ended, the day was already bright.
Feeling exhausted, Dirk Carter put on his clothes.
He asked, "Will you come to my wedding?"
Delilah Goodman turned over.
She took out a red envelope from her bag.
She said, "I've been quite busy lately, and I probably can't take many days off. Maybe I won't go, but this red envelope is for you."
Dirk accepted it.
He weighed it in his hand.
It felt quite thick.
"You cannot refuse; this is a little token of my respect."
Delilah seemed to know he wouldn't take it, so she prepared in advance.
Dirk hesitated for a moment.
With a slight smile.
He said, "Alright, I'll accept it."
After saying that,
he kissed Delilah on the forehead and said, "It's the weekend; you should rest a little more. I'll inform the front desk to not disturb you."
"Okay, sounds good."
Delilah nodded obediently.
Watching Dirk go out and close the door, finally, the tears that she held back in her eyes couldn't hold back any longer and began to flow silently.
Actually, whether Dirk got married or not, it didn't make much of a difference to her.
The two didn't work in the same place and could only meet after long intervals.
And she always knew that Dirk was an attractive man with many women around him.
Even knowing this, she still felt like she lost a man she once held dear in her heart.
After returning to Rexton City,
Dirk and Dorothy Zechariah went to take wedding photos together.
Then he personally oversaw the decoration of their new home.
After all, their wedding was approaching.
Dorothy wanted to buy a luxury car as a gift for Dirk.
Dirk didn't accept it either.
In the end, they bought a Passat, a favorite choice among government workers.
Busy with the preparations for ten days straight, they finally finished the work before the wedding.
Honestly, this period was more tiring than work.
As for the wedding banquet guests, Dorothy prepared a long list.
Dirk, however, didn't have many guests.
Besides his uncle and aunt, the most important invitee was Caden Dixon.
Of course, there were many others who had helped him along the way.
All in all, it was about two tables' worth of guests.
But Dirk still asked Dorothy to prepare for three tables.
One table was reserved for a few important guests.
Just confirming the banquet list.
Dirk and Dorothy were busy for an entire morning.
Right after they had lunch.
An unexpected issue arose.
The originally booked Sterling InterContinental Hotel called Dirk, saying that the wedding banquet hall they booked couldn't be provided, and the hotel was willing to compensate the previously agreed breach of contract amount of one hundred thousand yuan.
Receiving this call,
Dorothy was extremely anxious.
Because their wedding was the day after tomorrow.
An incident at this critical moment meant the wedding banquet couldn't continue.
Seeing Dorothy in a panic,
Dirk pulled her into his arms and said, "Don't worry, I'll head over to the hotel in a bit and sort this out."
"Can you handle it?"
Dorothy asked worriedly.
Dirk playfully brushed her nose and said, "Is there anything in the world your husband can't handle?"
"That's true."
Dorothy said mischievously.
An hour later.
Dirk arrived at the hotel lobby with Arlo Yarbrough.
After learning they were there to inquire about the canceled wedding banquet hall,
a waiter invited them into a lounge, saying the lobby manager would be there shortly.
After waiting for about ten minutes,
a young woman in a hotel uniform came in gracefully.
The woman was quite pretty too.
And she had a splendid figure.
However, she carried an air of arrogance, giving off a superior vibe.
As soon as she came in,
she approached Dirk and coldly asked, "Are you Mr. Carter?"
"I'm Dirk Carter,"
Dirk replied.
"Hello, Mr. Carter. I'm the Food and Beverage Manager of Sterling Hotel, my name is Lilian Taylor. Due to a mistake by our staff, it has caused this minor issue. I apologize on behalf of the hotel. Please patiently wait at home; within approximately 48 hours, your compensation will be transferred to your bank account."
After Lilian Taylor finished.
She was about to leave.
"Wait a moment."
Dirk suddenly called out.
Lilian turned back and asked, "Mr. Carter, is there anything else?"
"Your hotel seems to lack a sense of contractual spirit. My wedding is the day after tomorrow, during the national holiday, and with a light apology from you, should my wedding be canceled? Do you really think I care about that hundred thousand yuan?"
"So what do you mean, Mr. Carter? Do you want more compensation?"
Lilian sneered.
Hearing this, Dirk
stood up and said, "Manager Taylor, you misunderstood. I came today just to hear an explanation. Now, even if you agree to honor my booking, I won't proceed."
"Oh, an explanation? What kind of explanation do you need? We've already agreed to pay the compensation. What else do you need, unless you're trying to extort us?"
Lilian remarked disdainfully.
"How can you speak like that?"
Arlo erupted in anger upon hearing that.
He pointed at Lilian and shouted.
Lilian's disdainful expression grew even more pronounced.
She said, "That's how I talk. If you like it, listen; if not, then leave. I didn't invite you here."
Arlo wanted to argue further.
But Dirk stopped him.
He said, "Well, then call your general manager over."
"Are you kidding? Who do you think Sterling Hotel is? You think you can see our general manager just like that? Have you considered your own status?"
Lilian laughed coldly.
Dirk nodded.
He said, "Alright then, since you don't want to call, I'll do it. Arlo, call Javier Summers."
Upon hearing Dirk mention the name of the hotel's general manager,
she did not show any sign of nervousness.
She responded, "Even if President Summers comes, you still can't book the wedding banquet hall. I said it, and you can try it if you don't believe me."
About two minutes after Arlo made the call,
a middle-aged man in a suit hurried in.
This person was the hotel's general manager, Javier Summers.
As the secretary general of the government office, Dirk had previously had dealings with him; otherwise, the hotel reservation wouldn't have been made here.
Upon seeing Dirk,
Javier Summers rushed over.
Extending his hand, he said, "Secretary General Carter, what brings you here? Ms. Taylor, why haven't you served our secretary general some water?"
"President Summers, we don't dare drink water from your hotel; otherwise, Manager Taylor might be displeased."
Before Dirk could speak,
Arlo interjected with a sarcastic remark.
But Dirk shot him a glare, and he immediately fell silent.
Javier Summers sensed something was off.
He turned to Lilian Taylor and asked, "Manager Taylor, what's going on? How did you offend Secretary General Carter?"
