Chapter 706:
Chapter 706:
"If necessary, I can do that too."
Dirk Carter said flatly.
Yao Bro and Hardhat both burst out laughing.
Then Yao Bro's face hardened.
He said, "You fucking think I'm an idiot? Trying to stall me?"
He pointed at the grave.
He said, "Either you pay up and take the ashes away, or I'll dig up your parents' graves right now and scatter their ashes. Just these two options, you pick one yourself."
"Sorry, I don't plan on accepting either of those conditions!"
Dirk Carter said.
Yao Bro snorted coldly and said, "Then don't blame me for being rude. Brothers, do it!"
With that order.
Hardhat moved the fastest.
He grabbed a big sledgehammer and stood right on top of Dirk's parents' grave.
He said, "Didn't you just run your mouth? Saying digging up someone's ancestral grave is like killing their parents? I'm gonna dig up your family's ancestral grave right now, let's see what the hell you can do."
After he said that.
He swung the hammer down and smashed it into the concrete.
Crack.
The concrete split open with a fissure.
Arlo Yarbrough couldn't hold back anymore.
He didn't care whether Dirk would stop him or not.
He roared, "Motherfucker!"
He flew in with a kick, slamming right into Hardhat's thigh.
Hardhat was about to swing a second time, and didn't expect Dirk's guy to actually throw a punch. He staggered and fell straight to the ground, howling in pain.
Seeing that.
Yao Bro felt like his face had been ground into the dirt.
He waved his hand.
And shouted angrily, "Get them! Teach them a fucking lesson today, or they'll really think I, Yao Bro, eat grass in Bayberry Town!"
Seven or eight men in security uniforms rushed over.
A brawl broke out on the spot.
Dirk originally didn't want to fight.
But with things escalated to this point, he had no choice but to step in.
The two of them flanked left and right.
They dropped the four men charging in front in quick succession.
Yao Bro saw the tide turning.
He grabbed the walkie-talkie and yelled, "Everyone from the site up front, get your asses over here!"
With that shout.
People in the distance all started rushing over this way.
A dark mass of bodies—at a glance, at least twenty or thirty men.
"You still good to fight?"
Arlo Yarbrough asked Dirk.
Dirk flexed his wrists.
And said, "Haven't moved in a while, good chance to get some practice."
The two exchanged a knowing grin.
Then they charged at the remaining four security guards.
In just a few exchanges.
The seven or eight security guards were all lying on the ground.
Yao Bro was scared shitless.
He pointed at the two of them and yelled to the men surging up behind him, "Hit them! Beat the crap out of them! If someone dies or gets crippled today, I'll take full responsibility!"
"Stop!"
A loud shout came from afar.
It startled everyone.
Yao Bro turned around to look.
He saw a man of about thirty in a white shirt running over in a hurry.
This man was none other than Zach Griffin, Party Secretary of Bayberry Town.
Behind Zach Griffin, a bunch of people were also rushing over.
Yao Bro's whole body jolted.
He wondered, confused, "How did Zach Griffin actually come? Could it really be that kid who called him?"
Impossible!
Absolutely impossible!
Look at how young that kid is, and he dares talk to the town Party Secretary in that tone?
"Secretary Griffin, you're finally here, you have to stand up for me!"
As soon as he saw Zach Griffin, Yao Bro started wailing like a ghost.
The security guards who'd been beaten also hurried to put on their most pitiful, injured faces.
"Yorick Hall, what the hell is going on?"
Once Zach reached them, he asked Yao Bro.
Yorick Hall pointed at the security guards, then at Dirk, and said, "Some troublemakers popped up from god knows where. Look how badly they beat our men. Secretary Griffin, hurry and have the police arrest them, these guys are way too arrogant, completely lawless."
Right now, Zach Griffin.
Had a splitting headache.
He walked over to Dirk, legs trembling.
And said guiltily, "Sir, what brings you here? You should've called ahead, I would've sent a car to pick you up."
"How would I dare trouble you, Secretary Griffin? You're something else now, running your own turf. Someone like me, Dirk Carter, isn't worthy."
As soon as he said that mocking line.
Cold sweat started beading on Zach Griffin's forehead.
Off to the side, Yorick Hall jolted.
He hurried over and asked, "Secretary Griffin, this guy… he's your superior?"
"Everything I have today is thanks to his promotion."
Zach Griffin said.
It was like getting hit by lightning.
Yorick Hall's mind went blank for a second.
He whispered, "So how high is his rank?"
"Anyway, higher than the Party Secretary of Stillwater County."
Zach Griffin said.
The expression on Yorick Hall's face froze solid.
He swallowed hard.
When he looked at Dirk again, the muscles on his face were trembling.
"Secretary Griffin, let me ask you, why was Bayberry Ridge contracted out? Was that your doing?"
Dirk asked sternly.
As soon as Zach heard that, he frantically shook his head.
He said, "I don't know about this, not a thing."
After he spoke.
He turned to the people behind him and asked, "What's going on here? Who's going to explain this to me?"
Every single one of them had their heads down.
No one dared say a word.
Obviously.
This was something the people under him had cooked up in collusion with Yorick Hall.
"Smack!"
Dirk suddenly raised his hand.
And slapped Zach Griffin across the face.
That slap didn't just leave Zach stunned.
It scared everyone present out of their wits.
"After that slap, you got any objections?"
Dirk asked.
Zach didn't dare step out of line.
He nodded and said, "You're entitled to hit me as you please, Sir. I was wrong. I'll deal with this matter with full seriousness."
"I'm giving you three days. Tear down the entire Bayberry Ridge resort for me. If it's not done in three days, I don't care what kind of relationship you and I have, you can forget about being the top dog in Bayberry Town. I mean what I say."
Dirk said, his voice firm and resonant.
Zach Griffin nodded and said, "Please rest assured, Sir, in three days I guarantee this place will be restored to how it was."
"No, you can't tear it down. I put all my blood and sweat into this. If you demolish it, what am I supposed to do?"
Yorick Hall, who hadn't dared say a word all this time, completely lost it when he heard that.
He stepped forward and complained to Dirk and Zach.
"Why can't we tear it down? Do we need your permission? When you tore up my parents' grave, did you get my permission?"
Dirk asked.
Yorick Hall swallowed hard.
He was drowning in regret.
He saw Hardhat hiding behind the crowd.
Furious, he kicked him and roared, "This is all your fucking fault! Get out here and apologize to the leader!"
Hardhat trembled as he stepped out.
He was just about to speak.
Dirk said, "Sorry, I, Dirk Carter, am not accepting any apologies today. Even if the Heavenly King himself comes to plead your case, this resort is getting torn down. I'm giving you time to make calls and pull connections. I want to see who can talk me down today."
Yorick Hall still wanted to take a gamble.
He pulled out his phone and was about to step aside to make a call.
Suddenly, he froze in place.
When he turned back around, his face was already full of guilt.
