Chapter 474 474: Blood Vessels Flowing Backward
Chapter 474 474: Blood Vessels Flowing Backward
Dirk Carter found a hotel by the roadside and used his ID card to book a room.
When the door to the room opened, Snowy was instantly stunned.
She pointed at the large bed room in front of her and asked, "Is this a hotel?"
"Is there a problem?"
Dirk Carter asked in return.
Snowy had a look of wanting to say something but not saying it. From her expression, it seemed she was quite disdainful of the room in front of her.
In fact, it was a three-star hotel, and this room cost more than three hundred a night. Although Dirk Carter was not lacking in money, he was never a spendthrift.
But in Snowy's eyes, the hotel's conditions still seemed too poor.
"No... it's nothing."
She didn't dare to complain and could only just make do with staying.
"I've booked the room for you for a week. Also, I'll give you some money that you can use for food. As for how you'll live after that, you'll have to figure it out yourself."
After saying this,
Dirk Carter pulled out a stack of money.
He placed it on the nightstand.
"Thank you."
said Snowy.
Dirk Carter waved his hand, saying, "Alright, then I'll just leave now..."
Before he could finish his sentence,
he suddenly noticed two streams of bright red blood flowing from under Snowy's nose.
"You..."
Dirk Carter pointed, and Snowy instantly realized what had happened.
She quickly pulled out a tissue, wiped away the blood under her nose, and cheerfully said, "It's nothing, maybe I had something too greasy, got a bit heated."
Not right.
Dirk Carter, having studied medicine,
still realized something was wrong.
He quickly grabbed Snowy's hand and felt her pulse.
After a while, Dirk Carter frowned.
He looked at Snowy and asked, "Do you get nosebleeds often?"
Snowy's first instinct was to hide it, but seeing Dirk Carter's sharp gaze, she felt a bit timid and helplessly nodded, saying, "Every few days, sometimes several times a day, without any pattern."
"You often catch colds, don't you?"
Dirk Carter continued asking.
Snowy was a bit taken aback and nodded in surprise.
"And you often feel very tired. When you're tired, the nosebleeds are even more, and the heart area hurts a lot, right?"
Dirk Carter asked again.
Snowy's mouth opened wide in shock: "How do you know all this?"
"What did the doctor say?"
Dirk Carter did not answer her question but instead asked seriously.
Snowy's expression immediately turned sorrowful, she shook her head and said, "I've been like this since I was young. My parents took me to many hospitals and consulted many famous doctors, but they couldn't help."
Now Dirk Carter finally understood why Snowy hadn't tried those dishes; it wasn't because she was being fancy, but because she couldn't eat those really greasy dishes to begin with.
"Most likely, you have 'retrogade blood flow syndrome'."
Dirk Carter said with certainty.
Snowy's eyes widened: "Retrogade blood flow syndrome? I've never heard any doctor say that; they can't find the cause."
"In traditional Chinese medicine theory, qi and blood are the basic substances that sustain life activities. They circulate through the meridian system and nourish various organs. 'Retrogade blood flow syndrome' is an extremely rare pathological state, where under certain conditions, the blood in the body doesn't flow according to the normal meridian pathways but instead flows backward, especially concentrating in some fragile areas like the nasal cavity, leading to frequent abnormal bleeding."
Although Dirk Carter explained it clearly, Snowy didn't understand a word.
As they spoke,
Snowy's bleeding nose, once again, started to run.
She let out a soft moan,
clutching her heart, her facial expression gradually becoming twisted.
Her pulse was abnormal.
Dirk Carter realized Snowy must have entered a state of pain.
He hurriedly held her shoulders and let her sit down.
"Has your bleeding become more frequent recently?"
Dirk Carter asked.
Snowy nodded painfully, looking up at Dirk Carter with effort, forcing a smile and said, "The doctor said I'm dying, is that true?"
"Yes!"
Dirk Carter nodded.
It was an honest answer.
He thought Snowy would cry, but she didn't. She merely let out a long sigh and said, "That's why I sneaked out from home. Because of this illness, my family never lets me go out. But I'm only 25, and I want to see the outside world. I always tell myself, I might never have been to far places, but I must die on the way to far places."
Dirk Carter initially thought he was dealing with a spoiled rich girl playing an old runaway from home trick.
The trick was still there, but it was a sad story.
"How much longer can I live?"
Snowy suddenly asked.
Dirk Carter frowned in thought, then said, "A week, maybe three to five days."
"It's a pity; I should have run away from home earlier."
Snowy said this with a face full of regret. Her regret wasn't about being close to death but about not having seen the world.
Dirk Carter let out a long breath.
He said, "Don't worry, you won't die. If you believe in me, I can cure you."
"You can cure me?"
Snowy was suddenly taken aback.
She looked at Dirk Carter in disbelief.
"Yes, I can cure you."
Dirk Carter repeated.
Snowy seemed to suddenly see hope.
She immediately stood up.
"But the process isn't that simple. You should rest well first. I'll come back and explain it to you tomorrow."
Dirk Carter said.
Snowy stared at Dirk Carter for a long while, finally nodding.
The next day was Sunday.
Early in the morning, Dirk Carter got up.
The first thing he did after getting up was head straight to Koryn City's herbal market.
He wandered for over an hour.
Only then did he manage to buy all the herbs he needed.
After returning home, he pulled out a notebook left by his father and found records about 'retrogade blood flow syndrome' in it.
Following the steps in the notebook.
He decocted the herbs into a bowl, put it in a thermos, and hurried to the hotel.
He was already at the hotel door, but then thought of something, so he quickly went out again and got a takeaway breakfast.
A simple breakfast.
Soy milk and fried dough sticks.
But Snowy had never had fried dough sticks before.
At first, she was hesitant to eat.
Once she took a bite, she immediately became delighted, and in no time at all, she downed a bowl of soy milk and two sticks of fried dough. Then she curiously pointed to the thermos Dirk Carter placed on the table, asking, "What's this?"
"Medicine!"
Dirk Carter replied.
Snowy's expression turned tense immediately, and she asked timidly, "Is it for me to take?"
Dirk Carter nodded and said, "Before you take the medicine, I have something to tell you."
Seeing Dirk Carter's expression become serious.
Snowy nodded and said, "Go ahead."
Dirk Carter took a deep breath and said, "I told you last night I can treat your illness, but I'm not completely sure, and the treatment process will be very painful for you. Are you willing to try?"
"How painful?"
Snowy asked.
