When Love is not enough

Not here,okay?

Not here,okay?

Andre was sweating, almost done with his last exercise before he would leave. He glanced at the wall clock and saw it was almost 9am. He should leave and return home. He didn't receive the bill he was expecting from Camella, that spoiled brat.

He would sum it and pay up. No one is going to blame him for that. For not giving a prior notice of his resignation, he would return his previous month salary back to them. Then he would be free to accept that job offer.

He heard his phone ring and he answered it and said ok. Soon he saw Fred walk in through the glass separation and he stepped out, going over to meet him midway. What he didn't expect was seeing him with someone else.

Camella was dazed when she saw Andre walking towards them in a gym outfit. He wore a black t-shirt and flexible pants and sneakers, a sweat towel draped around his neck and a water bottle in hand. His hair is rough giving him a different outlook.

“Hi buddy” Fred Maxwell said, giving him a side hug. He saw the frosty stare from him. He didn't inform him that Camella was coming to say hello to him and apologised for the previous day's event.

“Hi Fred” Andre said as he casually glanced at Camella briefly “Hi, Miss Camella” he said and looked away from her almost immediately. He doesn't know what she wants from him this time, who knows maybe he would be getting beaten up and also sent to prison.

“Hi Andre,” Camella replied, happy that he even spared her a glance to say hello. But he simply glanced at her and looked away, an attitude that means he's choked with her presence around him.

“Can we talk privately?” Fred said emphasis on the word “we” he gave Andre a stare that means he was talking about three of them, not just the both of them. Andre Underwood and his brow furrowed.

“I am a private person Fred, and I expect you to have known that. I'm sorry but I don't have such time to spare” he declared and turned around, walking away. How can Fred bring this arrogant woman anywhere close to him without notifying him ahead of time.

“Andre please” Camella blurted the words out of her mouth before she realised it. She swallowed hard and glanced at Fred, the latter shrugged and she went closer to him. Andre has filled her dreams the entire night. She drifted off to dreamland thinking about him and when she woke up, she immediately sent a text to Fred.

Andre paused but didn't turn back. He gnashed his teeth.

“I know you are upset with me about yesterday. I have come to set things straight between us once and for all. Don't go away, let's talk about it” Camella declared.

“If you have a problem with your employees, go back to your company and fix whatever is wrong, okay.? Not here Miss Camella” he snapped at her and walked away.

Camella stood and watched the retreating back view of Andre. He appeared taller in front of her and his muscled biceps. He has this air of dominance around him that she'd never observed before.

“It will take time Miss Camella for you to receive an audience from Andre. He is calm, and easy going but he has his own principle that he works with. But I hope he will be able to let go” Fred persuaded as they got into the car.

“I just want him to know that I was wrong to have sent him to the police station. And after that, I'll appreciate him for his kindness. I hope things get straightened out after that” Camella stuttered.

“That isn't the only reason Andre is unhappy with you Miss Camella. You did something else, without verifying the truth and he didn't bother explaining or defending himself. It's hard to be forgiven by someone who remained quiet when accused innocently” Fred squeaked.

He was quiet and let her slap him, she slashed his salary in two and used improper adjectives for him and he expected him to simply forgive her? He was quiet then, he would still remain quiet when she apologised.

“What? That's not possible. If you are trying to talk about his pending payment settlement with the company, I have done nothing wrong” Camella justified herself.

“No ma'am. You accused him wrongly…” Fred explained everything to him. And when he was done, Camella's complexion had gone pale. She glared at Fred through the rear mirror, unable to say anything else.

“Why didn't he clarify the misunderstanding?” She demanded. He should have spoken up that day, this whole shit wouldn't have dragged to this point. What the heck is wrong with him?

“You wouldn't have listened to him that day. Perhaps you would have slapped him across the face one more time. And Andre is someone that talks less and acts more. I think you have really wronged him, Miss Camella”

Camella nodded when Fred was done talking. She'd really have wronged him. No wonder he insisted on knowing what his bills are. He was paying for something that never was his fault. Why did she let her resentment for him override her senses?

That weekend passed leaving Camella broken. She never expected things to turn out this way. Her nights were filled with dreams of Andre and she could only relate it to the fact that the guy hates her now.

First she hadn't been able to appreciate him for his kindness towards her and now, she accused him wrongly, making him pay for what he was innocent of and got him arrested. If she was going to apologise to him, where does she begin from?

Jack, her fiance came over on Sunday evening and asked her out for dinner. She reluctantly agreed to it. She hadn't really had a nice weekend because the thought of Andre filled her heart and her conscience was banging it loud to her.

Jack ordered drinks and asked Camella what she would like for dinner and she said nothing. “You can't tell me anything. I brought you out for dinner and you're telling me no?” He seethed.

“Should I say yes when I do not have an appetite for anything, just to please you? Like seriously?” Camella snapped at him. They would definitely have a quarrel when they are together. He always wants to suppress her.

“Then leave if you are not interested in taking anything” Jack bellowed and Camella stood up and was leaving when he gripped her wrist.
