The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Serena

In the middle of the heartfelt conversation, one of Roman's men arrived with Alexei trailing behind. Seeing him, I couldn’t help but feel angry.

I stormed over to Alexei, frustration bubbling within me like a raging typhoon. My eyes demanded answers, but his nonchalant smirk only fueled the fire.

"Where the hell have you been?" I demanded, my voice sharper than intended.

Alexei shrugged, that infuriating smirk never leaving his face. "I don't really feel like talking about it."

My temper flared. How could he smirk like that when everything was falling apart around us?

"We don't have the luxury of your silence right now, Alexei. I need to know where you've been. Did you even have a single clue about what we had been through? We’ve been through hell! And now you’re—”

“Well, I’ve been through hell too!” he retorted. I could see how desperate he was in suppressing his anger. “Please, just leave me alone. I can’t deal with this now.”

I took a deep breath, trying to rein in my emotions. "Tori betrayed us, Alexei. She led us into a trap, and we lost our chance to bring down Mathilde because of it. All because you trusted her, your selfish mate, who's clearly not on our side!"

His expression hardened as I spoke, and I could see the guilt flicker in his eyes. "I know. And everything is my fault.”

My heart sank as I witnessed the unexpected turn of events. I had braced myself for Alexei to defend Tori, to counter my accusations with vehement loyalty. But instead, his silence spoke volumes. The devastation in his eyes was palpable. He didn't defend her; instead, he unleashed his pent-up anger.

"Tori... she betrayed me too. She already rejected our mateship and drove me away like a stray dog in her life," he muttered, his voice strained and filled with anguish.

His words lingered in the air, revealing another side of the story. I looked at him, and in that moment, I saw the pain on his face. The lines between us blurred, and I realized Alexei was not just an adversary but someone dealing with his own heartbreak.

"Now, can I leave?" Alexei muttered. The others, feeling the weight of the situation, let Alexei go, seeking solace in solitude. As he walked away, shoulders slumped, I felt a lingering sorrow in the air. The emotional battlefield had left us all wounded, and watching him leave made me ponder the complexities of love and betrayal that entangled us.

The fire crackled, casting shadows on Damon's face as he disclosed a long-hidden truth. "Father," he uttered, his voice carrying the weight of revelation. My eyes widened, and I shared a look with Roman, whose expression hinted at a mix of surprise and something deeper, perhaps hope.

The change in the relationship between father and son was clear. They faced each other, not as strangers but as family. It was a significant moment, a step toward mending their bond that resonated through the air. Damon and Roman were now joined by a common goal — seeking revenge against Romin. The flames of justice burned in their eyes, a shared determination that bound them together.

"We can't let Romin get away with what he's done. He needs to pay for his crimes."

"Revenge is a dish best served cold, Damon. Romin has become stronger over the years. We need to train, to prepare ourselves. Only then can we ensure justice is served."

Roman's assessment took into account his blind eye, emphasizing the importance of Damon’s skills in overcoming Romin. Damon accepted the challenge, vowing to hone his abilities and become a force to be reckoned with on behalf of his father.

And then, Damon's eyes sparkled with a newfound warmth as he turned to his father, a proud smile playing on his lips. "Dad, there's something I need to share with you," he said, his voice carrying a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Roman, intrigued, nodded for him to continue. "Go on, son. You can tell me anything."

With a glance in my direction, Damon took a deep breath. "This is Serena," he announced, his hand gesturing towards me. "She's not just a friend, Dad. She's my mate, and we're expecting a child."

The surprise on Roman's face gave way to a slow smile. "A grandchild," he mused, the revelation sinking in. "Well, I'll be damned. Congratulations, both of you."

I couldn't help but smile, feeling a wave of relief at Roman's positive reaction. Damon's decision to share our personal life with his father marked a turning point, and the air shifted from the intensity of revenge to the warmth of family.

But Damon wasn't done surprising us. With a determined glint in his eyes, he turned back to Roman. "Dad, there's something more. I want to marry Serena."

Roman's eyes widened in surprise, and then a deep warmth settled in them. "You've found someone special, Damon. I can see that. Of course, I agree. I'd be honored to have Serena as my daughter-in-law."

The atmosphere transformed into one of celebration as Roman ordered his men to prepare a feast. The union of our love and the pursuit of justice became intertwined, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
