The Alpha's Cinderella

Chapter 45

Chapter 45

Serena

I noticed the surprised expression on Tori's face when she saw me. Her eyes grew wide, and she stammered, "What are you doing here?"

As I stood before her, I couldn't resist responding with sarcasm. "Oh, come on, sister. Don't you miss me?" My voice carried the bitterness of old wounds that festered as I faced one of those people who had caused them.

The room seemed to mirror Tori's restlessness that evening. The soft, dimmed lights cast long shadows on the walls, and the air felt heavy with tension. Unspoken accusations lingered in the atmosphere as memories of our shared history loomed over us. Tori fidgeted from where she was standing, her fingers moving involuntarily – the same fingers that had once caused me so much pain.

All the pain from their abuse played inside my mind like a broken record. Every insult, beating, and the disgust I had earned from them made my eyes glisten with tears. But I stopped myself from crying. I would never give Tori the satisfaction of seeing me cry because of her and her mother.

Fear and anxiety illuminated in Tori's eyes, and I couldn't help but savor the moment, seeing her in such a vulnerable state. It was the very same fear that had plagued me during those dreadful nights when Tori and our mother, Mathilde, used to intrude into my room, subjecting me to their torment. I had never tasted peace back when we were still living under one roof.

Sensing the strong tension in the room, Alexei moved closer to Tori, positioning himself protectively. Then, he held Tori’s hands, kissing them lovingly, expressing his admiration for her.

Alexei cleared his throat, his voice carrying determination and a sense of purpose as he began to speak, "Tori, we are not here to hurt you. In fact, we are here because we want to offer a proposition to you.”

Tori looked confused. “Wh-What? A proposition? I…I don’t understand.”

“Please, hear me out first. Serena, Damon, Ashford, and I are planning to stop the Alpha from marrying you. We are also working together to bring your mother to justice.”

Tori's eyes showed a mix of hope and apprehension as she listened closely.

"I already told them that marrying Damon’s father was not your idea," Alexei added, his voice resolute. "We won't allow your life to be controlled by her cruel desires anymore. So, we are here to help you.”

Tori remained silent, but the weight of Alexei’s words felt heavy on her. She paced back and forth, her hand on her forehead, fear evident in her eyes. “You don’t know what you’re saying. You have no idea what my mother is capable of. What if she—”

“Calm down, Tori. We all know what we are getting ourselves into,” Alexei answered. “We understand the fear and pressure you've been living with. Your mother is not a deity. Like us, she is not invincible, and we can definitely bring her down. We can put an end to her evil deeds and allow you to break free from your mother's manipulation. You deserve a life of your own, liberated from her oppressive control."

Tori's breathing seemed to catch, and her eyes filled with unshed tears. Alexei's words had struck a chord, so he pushed further.

"This is the only way for us to be together," he emphasized, his tone softening. “Also, Serena and Damon are willing to be lenient with your punishment if you agree to help us with our cause.”

Tori's gaze shifted to me, and I sighed heavily. We stood in the dimly lit room, the tension palpable in the air. The words I needed to say weighed on me, but I knew it was time.

"I haven't forgiven you for all the pain you've caused me," I began, my voice quivering with a mix of anger and pain. “But if you're willing to betray your mother and make things right, I might consider giving you a chance." I locked eyes with her, my gaze unwavering.

Tori met my gaze, swallowing hard, her eyes reflecting the turmoil within her. She knew the gravity of the situation, and she knew she had to make a choice. After a moment of silence, she finally asked, "How can I assist?"

Damon stepped forward, his presence commanding attention. He outlined the tasks for Tori, his voice firm and resolute. "You will need to spy on your mother and gather information about her future plans. We need evidence of Mathilde's ambitions to expand her influence and control Alpha Roman through you."

Tori nodded, her commitment clear. "I understand," she said, determination in her voice. "Give me seven days, and I'll gather the necessary information."

We all nodded in agreement, and it was decided that we would reconvene at the southern border in a week's time to assess our next steps. Alexei’s eyes lit up, and he hugged his mate. Tori hugged him back in return.

As we left Tori’s chambers, the promise of a brighter tomorrow filled us with hope. I couldn’t wait to witness Mathilde's fall from her pedestal, a platform she had attained by manipulating everyone around her to serve her own desires.
