Three Rogues
Three Rogues
Nalya
Being back in the pack felt like I never left at all. People were gracious to me, while a few gave me strange looks. I guess they didn't understand why their alpha brought me back. As I walked towards the backyard, I saw Miss Nadia talking to someone. Seeing me, she gave me the biggest smile I didn't expect and rushed to hug me.
I hugged me reluctantly.
"You're back!" she said with enthusiasm.
"I am. It's good to see you again, Miss Nadia," I said. She cupped my face.
"I'm most happy to see you too, sweetheart," she said. She hugged me again.
"Oh Nalya,"
"Is everything alright?" I asked. We exchanged pleasantries and made small talk. She told me about a promotion she was having at her company, and we'd like for me to be part of it.
" I want to talk to you-"
She stopped when her eyes fogged. Someone was talking to her via mind link. She looked on the far left, and I followed her gaze. I was starstruck when I saw Alpha Prince Rhaegar. He was dressed in white, buttoned long sleeves, black pants, and black shoes. He slicked his hair back, and his blue eyes were more outstanding than ever. Everything on him showed off his masculinity. My body heated up, and I hated that a few women eyed him lustfully.
My wolf growled at the back of my mind, and I giggled.
Rhaegar walked to us, and I was nervous. He smiled at me, and I returned it slightly.
"Good morning," he greeted.
"Morning," I mumbled
"Nadia, can we talk?" he asked, and she rolled her eyes.
"Rhaegar, I want to talk to Nalya," she was firm.
"This won't take long," Nadia sighed and nodded.
"Um, excuse me. I'll see you later, Miss Nadia," I said, turning away. However, Rhaegar held my hand and interlocked our fingers without caring who was watching. Yep, I'll be the center of gossip today.
"Did you have breakfast?" he asked. I didn't but nodded. I wanted to run away from there.
"Alright," he smiled charmingly at me.
"Can you please let my hand go... People are staring," I whispered. Prince Rhaegar raised his head and looked around as if only noticing the stares.
"Are you ashamed of me, Nalya?" he asked, baffled. I gaped at him. How could he say that?
"Prince Rhaegar, stop,"
He looked at me mischievously and raised our interlocked fingers.
"Stop it," I hissed. Rhaegar chuckled and let go of my hand. I didn't waste any time leaving his presence. I wanted to run but couldn't as it would be awkward. I walked fast yet, I could feel his eyes on me.
Rhaegar
She was too cute. I was smiling as she walked off with pink cheeks and all. Her heart beating loudly in her chest.
"You're happy," Nadia commented.
"She's too cute when she's embarrassed. Did you see that?" I said.
Nadia was smiling, but it was suddenly gone.
"Rhaegar, why didn't you want me to tell her the truth,"
"I just don't want her to get hurt. What if it's not true? It would break her,"
"I just know she's my daughter, Rhaegar. She looks much like me, and the dreams are clearer than ever,"
I had to admit their features resembled, and they both played the flute, but I wanted to be sure before telling her all this. She has been through enough emotional troubles.
"All I'm saying is you do a test secretly before telling her," I told her. Telling Nalya the truth would impact her and if the results are negative, I don't know how she'd react.
"You're right," she agreed.
We discussed a bit, and I went to work. After a long day of work, I wanted to see my mate but she was already asleep when I got home. I kissed her temple and left. I spent time with Nate, Kendrick, and Ella.
Nate was smiling the whole time as he talked about how his mate was. I was pleased to see how satisfied he was.
Ella talked about her graduation from med school. I was proud of her for her achievements. However, Kendrick was gloomy tonight, only drinking.
"What's got your panties in a bunch?" Ella nudged Kendrick.
"Life," he answered. We looked at him. He was serious,
"What happened?" I asked.
" It's getting old, and I'm getting tired," he sighed, throwing a glass across the wall.
"I started feeling that way too. You're longing for your mate," Nate said seriously. He didn't say, but the last few months have been depressing for him. It all changed when he met Kiyana.
"Someone to rely on, to do life with,"
Kendrick sat up after my words, deep in thought. It's been a while since I saw him vulnerable.
"Yeah,"
'Sire, we caught three rogues trying to enter the territory,' I received a mind link. I got to my feet immediately and went there.
Reaching the border, I found my men beating up three rogues, tied to a tree.
"Why are they lurking around?" I asked.
"No sir, this isn't the first time they've attempted to enter the pack," The patrol commander said.
"Why wasn't I informed the first time?" I growled.
"It's not uncommon for them to try to enter, and we manage to kick them out. However, these are different from the petty thieves. They are stronger and more coordinated," he responded. He stepped back when I approached. I went past him to the rogues.
"What do you want?" I asked coldly. I knew what they wanted in my heart. It made me uneasy. They were Arlon William's people. They wanted my mate.
They stayed quiet, and I grabbed one of them by the neck, snapping it. The others growled and moved to the next. I held one by the hair and gripped it, making him whimper.
"I won't repeat my earlier question,"
They were silent. I was ready to kill him when the other spoke.
"The boss's wife," he said, and I punched him. Again and again. She was not his fucking wife!
Nate took me away, and I growled.
"Kendrick, why are you unable to catch that bastard?!"
"The fucker is good at hiding. I placed men everywhere in case he goes back to his hometown, and an amber alert," he said. It bugged me that he just disappeared.
"Where's Arlon?" Nate asked the men. They stayed silent, and as he approached, one of them answered.
"We don't know. The Rogue Alpha sent a picture of a girl and a huge reward for whosoever brings her to him," The man's voice quivered.
"Suppose you got the girl. Where would you take her?" Kendrick asked.
"We have a way to reach him, and he'll meet us,"
Nate and I exchanged a glance, thinking the same thing. We could use this to lure him out. I sighed.
"Untie them," I ordered.
