Obsidian Alpha

Chapter 45

Chapter 45

Morena’s P O V

Alpha Luke and uncle Sion left earlier this week and I was very thankful to Leander for allowing me to say my good byes to them. I even got to squeeze in a hug or two and a war did not flare up. I was back to spending most of my days in the room. Leander was very busy with every thing that has been going on in the pack and I understood. He had no time to entertain me. Though he was entertaining me alright. He comes every night, we would share some small talk and end up between the sheets. He never spent the night though. He would always leave. He seemed to want to talk to me about something. But he always decides against it. I can see it in his face. I have become better at reading him. Even his expressionless face is now a bit more clear to me. I also feel like we are more connected. We have bonded and I sense that my previous bond with my old pack has been growing weaker by the day. And the one with this pack getting stronger. Even Leander’s words have more effect on me now. When he says something mean , I feel it more nowadays. His orders kind of work on me now. It keeps slipping my mind to ask him if there was some sort of initiation ritual or something for me and Rena to go through to officially be members of this pack. It is our home now. He was my alpha now.

“You should learn how to notice when others come into the room, mutt.” I scream as I jump up from the surprise.

“When the hell did you come in here?” I ask after catching my breath.

“A while ago. You did not seem to notice me because you were busy twiddling your thumbs.” He calmly answers as if he didn’t just scare the living crap out of me.

“I was thinking and you almost gave me a heart attack!” I reprimand.

“Werewolves do not get heart attacks. And even if they do, I will make sure to give you a proper cardiopulmonary resuscitation.” He mocks.

“Well, since I seem to be the runt of the litter and my luck is from bad to worse, I might get one of those. Even if werewolves do not get them.” I complain.

“So you do admit that you are the runt of the litter?” He asks with a raised brow.

“Well duh! Where do I start ? I was one of the many kids that lost their parents during the attack. But I recieved special from our alpha and luna due to their personal relationship with my father. I was not bullied but I was not liked either. I always always left out. I basically had no friends until Rena was old enough to be one for me.” I sigh.

“Poor you. You had no friends. That does not qualify as having bad luck, Morena.” he says with a mocking tone, as he heads towards the couch and plops down. Oh my god! Did he always have to be mean.

“That might nit be of any meaning to you but it is important to me. We are built different! So do not judge me according to your own criterias!” I bite out.

“Sorry, princess. I did not mean to stir you. Please go on in your tales of woe.” He says in mock surrender and I roll my eyes at his childishness.

“Never mind. I should have not spoken in the first place.” I sigh getting up to head to the bathroom. I was going to take a shower before he came anyway.

“Hold on. I apologize. you were so easy to tease I could not help it.” He says getting up and coming towards me. He held my hand and led me back to the bed. “Keep talking. I promise to listen.”

“There is not luch to say, Leander. I just have bad luck. From no friends to the shittiest health any werewolf has ever had. I was not even able to go to school properly growing up. And now being mated to you.” I finish jokingly, trying to light up the mood a bit.

“Now it is my turn to be mad.” He says with a fake hurt look. “How is being mated to me a bad thing? I am the strongest alpha on earth right now.” he continue coming closer to me. His face was only a few inches away from mine.

“Well, you do not even admit that I am your mate. And you are keeping me locked up here as I am something you are ashamed of me.” I choke up. I know we were kind of joking just now but since we are there why not talk about it.

“You had to go and make it all dark now. didn’t you?” He sighs laying back on the bed. “Sorry. I had to say it.” I reply.

“I can not trust people easily, Morena. I grew up with my father telling me that I should not trust anyone unless they prove themselves to me. That ruled applied to everyone even my own family. And then at sixteen when I shifted and my father saw my jet black wolf he told me I was destined to live alone. Black wolves were destined to live their lives all alone.” He says. He shifted at sixteen? Werewolves usually shift when they turn eighteen. They rarely shift before that age.

“He had no right to tell you that! You were practically a child. Why would he talk to you like that.” I say feeling the rage bubble inside of me.

“My father might have been an unforgivable man and trust me he has done way worse things than saying some bad shit. But let me tell you; when it comes to this he has been right all along. So forgive me if I can not welcome you with open arms when I do not even believe in the concept of mates.” He bites out and I just shake my head in disappointment. There was no use in taking this conversation any further.
