Chapter 375
Chapter 375
Third Person's POV
Sunny had been hiding at home, avoiding the light like a mouse. She felt like she had ruined her life. Everything was a mess. Her dreams, her future—all of it seemed bleak. Maybe Moira and Melissa were right. She wasn't the same person she used to be.
The failure of a relationship could truly change someone.
Every time Sunny thought about the things Leo had said in the hospital, her head ached, and her heart hurt. The higher she had been lifted, the harder she had fallen. She had learned that lesson the hard way.
The sky outside darkened again. Sunny opened a small corner of the curtain and stared blankly at the lights outside.
She wondered if she should take advantage of the darkness to go out for a walk.
'At this time, no one would recognize me, right?' she thought.
Sunny checked her bank account balance and realized it wasn't much. When she was with Leo, she had relied on him for food, clothing, and other expenses, but he had never given her money. Now, she was back to square one.
Forget it. She'd better save what little she had. She had no idea how long this kind of life would last.
Maybe she could go abroad, find a place where no one knew her, and start over.
Sunny came up with many plans, but she quickly realized they weren't practical.
Right now, her biggest concern wasn't herself—it was Olivia. Was Olivia in danger?
Where had Olivia gone? Had she sensed some kind of threat?
This danger wasn't just from the Royal Pack brothers. There was also that man, Richard.
Olivia seemed to fear him too. Had Richard found out that the Royal Pack brothers were investigating their father's death? Did he see Olivia as a ticking time bomb?
Would he try to silence her?
At this thought, Sunny shuddered.
A man who could kill his own brother was clearly ruthless. Olivia's existence was his biggest weakness. He definitely wouldn't let her go.
Sunny felt a wave of panic.
She was so stupid, so slow. How had she only just realized this danger?
What should she do? If Richard found Olivia, Sunny would rather Olivia face Leo and Blake. At least they could reason with her.
Just as Sunny's thoughts grew darker and colder, a knock came at the door.
At this hour?
Who could it be?
It couldn't be Moira—she had a spare key.
Sunny jumped up, startled, and rushed to the door.
Without realizing it, she had grabbed a kitchen knife.
She didn't know why she had acted so quickly, but the terrifying scenarios she had imagined must have triggered her survival instincts.
"Sunny, open the door!" The voice outside sounded impatient.
Sunny's eyes widened in shock.
It was Leo's voice.
Why was he here?
It felt like a dream, surreal and unreal. But when the voice called out again, Sunny snapped out of it and quickly opened the door.
Sure enough, Leo was standing outside. However, something was off—his face was adorned with a few band-aids.
He wore a long khaki trench coat, looking as handsome and youthful as ever.
"Can you put the knife down? I'm not here to cause trouble," Leo said, his voice cold. As Sunny stared at him in shock, he felt a chill run down his spine. The sight of her holding a gleaming knife was like something out of a nightmare, and it deeply unsettled him.
Sunny suddenly remembered she was still holding the knife. She quickly tossed it aside, and it clattered loudly on the floor, startling both of them.
"Sorry, I thought you were a bad guy." Sunny forced a laugh, though it sounded strained.
"A bad guy? Me?" Leo sneered self-deprecatingly. Then, coldly, he added, "Right, in your eyes, I'm the bad guy."
Sunny quickly clarified, "Don't be mad. I didn't say you were a bad guy."
"Then why were you holding a knife? Even after hearing my voice, you didn't put it down!" Leo was still annoyed. Was she treating him like some kind of predator?
Sunny remembered that they had broken up.
Her hands hung at her sides, clutching her clothes. Her voice was dry as she asked, "Why are you here?"
Leo stuffed his hands in his pockets, his dark eyes scanning her face before taking in the small, messy room. It was worse than a dog's den.
"Just because we broke up, you've let yourself go like this?" Leo finally turned his gaze back to her. She was wearing oversized pyjamas, her hair was a mess, and she looked like a complete mess. Leo might have turned around and left right then if it weren't for her still-attractive face.
